We don't really know.

He was doing well enough to create and appear in FFYRR.
There were some reports earlier this year that he was free of cancer, but that turned out to be incorrect.
In recent interviews, Mike and Ad Rock do not seem to be very forthcoming about his health, outside of some half-hearted "He's good" answers to questions about his health.

I'm sure there's more information out there, but that's about all I know.

Mike and Horovitz have been very positive and have said that Yauch will recover so their positivity is all we have to go on, plus the fact that MCA is pretty active doing small scale projects on the side is a good thing! Oh and having read up on his type cancer it seems the reason why his is taking longer is because they are being careful to not disturb his vocal cords. There are procedures that could actually heal him faster but then that could result in a permanent voice change or even worse! So in my unprofessional opinion this is probably why it’s taken this long. Yauch’s musical career would be over if he didn’t do it the slow way!

They haven't been especially talkative about Yauch's condition, but then it's a private issue between family and friends. As I've listened to the recent Adrock/Mike D interviews, you can't help but notice his absence. Which in a way is a reminder of how much his art is meaningful to us, and how much we love and wish him well.

No touring plans from the Beastie Boys, updates on MCA

In a new interview with the Guardian, the Beastie Boys said that had no plans to tour in support of their newly released album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. Released last week, the record is the first (non-instrumental) studio album from the band since 2004's To The 5 Boroughs. In the intervening years, they released a instrumental record, The Mix-Up as well as deluxe, remastered reissues Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head, Ill Communication and Hello Nasty.

Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz explained why the trio was not planning to hit the road just yet:

[Adam "MCA" Yauch is] doing OK. He's still in treatment, so it's not 100%. But things are lookin' good. We're not touring, we're just getting the record out – and we're not making any plans until he is better. Which is definitely gonna happen. It's a very strange thing. Unfortunately, we've had a high attrition rate of friends growing up in New York, but more from drug overdoses and crazy shit like that. This is, actually, the first time that a friend who is a contemporary – basically one of my best friends for life – called me up to say: 'Hey, I've got some really bad news,' and having a really serious illness. And when you're friends for a long time, and one of that group of friends gets a very serious, potentially terminal illness, it's just kind of like … It's a game-changer, if you will.

Yeah that was posted already. :) We discussed this a lot (well I do lol) but yeah there are no plans for anything band related. Just an album which is fine until MCA is in the clear.
