I apologize if there was already a thread about this topic, but what is your favorite song off of HSC Pt2?

I really enjoy "OK" because it makes me think of breakdancers, etc... Makes me wanna dance(!)

Love the whole album, though. Best one in years.

The best songs on this album are:

Here's a Little Something For Ya (one of the best songs they have made in years)
Say It
Crazy Ass Shit
Lee Major's Come Again
Make Some Noise
OK
Long Burn the Fire
Too Many Rappers

The worst songs are:

Nonstop Disco Powerpack (it's 2011 guys)
Don't Play No Game... (not feeling the collab nor the reggae tone)
Funky Donkey (too PFunk for me)
Tadlock's Glasses (sounds like a demo recoded while playing Atari)

Ones that really don't count:
The Bill Harper Collection
The Larry Routine
Multi-Nuclear Disarmament
The Lisa Lisa Full Force Routine

Lee Majors. It's first song I heard off HSC and it totally brought me back to CYH-IC era Beasties. I'm surprised they've never rapped over hardcore before, it's retro and fresh at the same time. I'm also loving Non Disco Powerpack, Say It, Long Burn The Fire, Here's A Little Something For Ya, and Make Some Noise. If I had to pick a least favorite, it would be OK. I don't hate it, I guess it's just...OK.

Why does everyone love "Nonstop Disco Powerback" so much? I think it should have been closer to the end of the record.

And MND is not really a "song", it is an "instrumental"..

Yeah, mine too...Mike D on Disco PowerPack is the highlight of the album for me...I also really like Fucky Donkey as well. Not feeling "Here's a Little Something For Ya" in fact, Kev G's list is almost the complete opposite of mine.

My least favorite is Too Many Rappers. The new version is great, but NAS feels out if place in that track now that the album is out.

Personally, I like the fact that they still rap about wack MC's and competition like it's 1988. No one else does anymore. To me this song is like an homage to early 80's hip hop like Tracherous 3, Spoonie Gee, Rammelzee (even down to the vocal effects), etc. But hey, to each his own.

Long Burn The Fire
Pop Your Balloon
B-Boys in the Cut
Tadlocks
Here’s a little Something For Ya (just beat out OK in my top faves thanks to the NOICE)
OK
Lisa Lisa

As for DiscoPowerpack. It’s fascinating to me to read the reviews either love it or hate it. One review had it on the weakest track list from the album but the fans say one of the strongest track. I agree of course. Anyway it’s grown on me big time. As I listen to the album more and more it’s moved up on my list.

Another thing I love is that yeah it’s 2011 and people say MOVE on but I really can’t. I am old school all the way through. I’ll listen to Curtis Blow before Lil Wayne. I’ll listen to KRS One before Eminem. I’ll listen to that stuff because I just simply love it more than most of the hip hop out today. The fact that the Beasties really do enjoy the older school but still keep a modern flare to it is just great because it can appeal to all fans… I think!

joke post ^^^^

MND is one of the best instrumentals they've done. It's laughable that you don't count it as a "song" because it lacks proper vocals. Are you serious?

Yes! The Treacherous Three rocked the body. Don't forget the Funky 4 Plus 1 More. They were great too.

I'm not feeling the flow or anything about that track. It sounds as wack as "In A World Gone Mad" or whatever the hell that crap was. The Beastie Boys were moving into the future with "Hello Nasty" and then paid homage to early 80's New York Hip Hop with "To The 5 Buroughs" which I think is their weakest album. This new one they are doing the futuristic stuff again and mixing it with old school rhymes which is ok, but that track is boring. And for people naysaying "Here's a Little Something For Ya", y'all are outta your heads, that is one of the best Hip Hip songs ANYONE has done in years....

Don't get me wrong, it is a great piece.. but I wouldn't count it as a song when comparing it to actual songs with vocals.. It is like an interlude.

I agree, TTFB is their weakest album and I do like "Here's a Little Something For Ya" more than "Nonstop Disco Powerpack"

I have'nt loved a beastie boys album as much as this since Paul's Boutique,it flows so nicely. It feels like an album to be listened as a whole, instead of just your favourite songs at that time.

It could be any of the songs, pretty much. Enjoying it all.

And instrumentals do count, as do instrumental albums (especially when they are supported by a tour).

It’s pretty cool how in the same sentence you said Beasties created one of the best and one the worst hip hop songs you’ve heard in years lol. Anyway I think Here’s A Little Something For Ya” is totally becoming one of my favorite Beastie songs. I agree its straight up hip hop and it’s really hard. Sometimes when Yauch raps I think of Onyx. I just love how he gets crazy into it!!!!! They all sound perfect together on that track. It should be played out on the radio!!!!!!!!!!!
