But I take it all back. Sure the rhymes are pretty standard, but it winds and whirls so effortlessly and has so much more going on than I first thought. I love being surprised at how much I've warmed to it.
It is truly bionic, live elements dropping in and out over programmed shit that itself changes shape practically every verse. Good times.
If you don't feel the same about OK, share some of your 'growers' from the album.

I was just listening to it in the car b4 and was thinking the same thing eh. It does flow really well, and the whole album flows well sure there are no massive singles like intergalactic, body movin etc but the album is way better listen than hello nasty all the way through. just my opinion(y)

i like the fact that its different to most of the album. It sounds like its ad-rock's baby. TMR does sort of overshadow it a bit but its really well produced. I think in other less creative hands that song would be nothing but they have got the best out of it and its worthy of being on the album. I prefer it over BBITC or PYB

OK is easily one of my favorite songs on the record.
I love the robot/chorus break.
I love the sticking to themes "why has the sky gone red"
I think it's a dope jam.
Boom.

the break's bananas....the rest of it not so much. weak rhymes, style & chorus is eh (compared to the rest of the record)....

I definitely was surprised by “OK“. I remember listening to the previews and thinking that it was going to be a skipper. It’s now one of the most unique cuts on the album.
The song that has grown on me the most would have to be “Say It“. I think I was one of the only people who immediately didn’t like it. Everyone was spazzing out about how great it was, but when I first heard it in the theatre at the FFYRR screening I wasn’t really into it. It reminded me a lot of this Limp Bizkit sound with the random whoo chaa’s they throw in there. It was a sound that I thought the beastie boys always wanted to distance themselves from.
I have since come around and every time I listen to “Say It” it grows on me. It’s probably one of my favourite tracks to sing along to on the album. It is also becoming one of my favourite tracks on the album overall. Think it would be an awesome live cut.

while I wasn't foaming over Say It like many others right off the bat, I have to say, once I got over the "listen to the whole record down, no jumping to tracks" phase (about a week or so after release), Say It was the first target that I began jumping to right away and blasting. It really is a joy.
from the amazon snippets, I remember Tadlock's being the only one that I wasn't feeling. it was so hard to wrap my head around (from a 30 second clip, that is), but once the record came out it was my hands down fav. I think it still may be too!

I loved OK from the beginning when I first heard the preview. Several reasons why.
AD-Rock’s use of the word OK is on epic proportions. I can’t say the word without thinking about the song now. In fact any time I or my best friend say it (she’s a huge fan too) we both say it the same way the song goes. People around us think we are crazy. Cuz we are!
Second would be the music behind it. It’s got a great guitar and electronic beat that I love. I don’t think I could blast it loud enough.
Lyrics! There’s a story behind it. I love when the Beasties tell stories and this is one of the few on the album that has one with it. I am always dissecting the lyrics on this one.
Aside from favorite that I already mentioned I loved Yauch’s line “you lie like a plain clothes cop” and then I love love Mike’s line “wrapped in pink ribbon so pretty my name’s Mike D. from New York City.” Who can say shit like that and make it sound so perfect! :o
Anyway I am so happy it's warmed up to some of you because the song is just BRILLIANT!

Although its my 3rd favorite song iv actualy listened to it the most out of any song on the album.
Thought id be smooth like a nice nutter butter
But I start to cringe every word that you utter
Yes you said you are a big deal
But money calm down, FOR REAL

yeah i agree with a lot of these sentiments. ok and say it have grown on me ridiculously. the little drum intro to ok, and the percussion changes for mike's and yauch's last versus are nice little touches in a song thats full of them.
in regards to say it, the versus, if not the entire song, is some of the most thrilling work they've done since IC in my opinion. the bass on the chorus is like gratitude on a trip.
another grower is here's a little something, for me (see what i did there?). every line is on point. i also think it was a good move moving it before crazy ass shit, i just like the flow.
that said, and i've gone on about this with an annoying frequency, tadlock's and b-boys open the album for me. great fucking tracks.

OK has my absolute favoritie part of the entire record, the middle extended longer break or whatever it is technically called.
Serious my favorite part of the entire album, kinda like the beggining of Stand Together when it sounds like a motorcycle reving up, the "..nothing sounds quite like an 8-0-8..." (+ bass) in SDB -- HN......all these little parts/lines that become my fav few seconds on each album.
2nd fav part of HSCP2 is when ad-rock says "you heard me rapping now watch me dance", love that line.
Ahhh the little things, anyway OK is sweet, love that song and it's one of the best on the album. Still not feeling Say It, should like it more than I do but I don't, it's ok but that's it. I read someone say - it sounded like a loud Remote Control, that is perfect. It definetly skews more to the RC side than anything close to Gratitude, and I'm not a fan of Remote Control. Funny cause I loved the preview for both RC and SI, I remember when the preview was up before HN was released, I thought it would be the best song and it turned out to be one of my least fav on that album.

Yes I didn't like OK out the gate, thought it to be one of their bouncy Unite/Now Get Busy type of songs. Then...it grew on me..as the whole album has. There is so much going on in the background of most of these songs there really are treats for weeks....thank goodness for some high end headphones so I can hear all of them! The thickness of the robotic breakdown in OK is awesome. They really mixed the shit out of this record. I'd love to hear TT5B remixed/masterd by ZDAR!

my least favorite track on the album. i must admit it has grown on me a little however. but its still too bubbly for me.
would have been great as a BS2000 track, which is what it reminds of somewhat.

while it has grown on me more over the past few weeks, I still think it's the weakest track on the record. mostly on part of the vocals. there are some winners on there for sure (mostly adrock), but i'd say the weakest lyrics on the record reside within this track.
the beat is one of those elusive productions wherein awesome vocals over it would make it really cool and different, but weak lyrics over it make it sound cheap and awkward. while the lyrics don't suck, they're not great either, so the beat kinda floats in that strange limbo.

I disagree. I mean, I agree about the lyrics; they're not my favourite thing ever. But the fact that the performance flaunts its limitations is pretty cool, and (possibly unintentionally) really gives the music some space. The vocals then become just another layer and sort of makes the whole thing sound more like a dance-ish track with rapping over the top. And then of course again, all the subtleties in the beat are golden.
It was far from my favourite shit at first, but I keep listening to it for some reason. Whole > Sum of the parts.
