OK BBMB, here is a quick update on the official baseball team of the BBMB, your Houston Astros (http://houston.astros.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=hou).
The 'Stros were sold to Jim Crane, a baseball guy, so I am hopeful. He has already said that he wants a strong farm system, which is the right way to build a team. I just hope that unlike Uncle Drayton, once he has developed the talent that he understands that you must keep it, or fill the void with quality.
The team this year has been sucking baseballs this year, see above for reason, however, atleast every game that I have gone to see has been fun. The might not be talented, but damn it, they are trying. The former Colt .45's are now at the bottom of the division that has the Pirates and Cubs in it, which is truly saying something.
Will the Astros young players rise to the challenge? Will the new owner give the city of Houston and this board it's first champion? Only time will tell. Until then, one thing is for certain, Hunter Pence is the real fuckin' deal.
Peace
And in the words of J. R. Richard, "Get the fuck out of my way, punk-ass bitch."

Why would you make a thread like this!?! It's so beneath you.
PS, are they a professional team!? WTF!?

Yeah why M X Y? I know that the Astros are the offical baseball team of the BBMB and all, but for you to make a thread? Really? I thought you were better than that.
Padster's right, you do suck at making threads. Also, the Astros suck at baseball. They lost again, tonight to the Cardinals.
I'm confused, why is this thread bad?
It's not any worse than any other thread. Probably above average even.
Or is there a joke I don't get.
I don't get baseball, that's for sure. Which you think I would because I like cricket. Baseball is just cricket in a different shape and different rules right? Practically the same.

No joke on my end. I was suprised when the Astros where in the World Series how many people from other countries said that they liked them. Maybe they do, maybe they were being polite because they knew I was from Houston. Either way, I made a thread regarding something that I care about, and some people think it's lame or what have you. Their opinions mean about as much to me as used toiletpaper. However, I greatly appreciate your compliment.(y)

I like the Astros.
Mike D likes the Astros.
Some people from all over the world like the Astros.
Padster doesn't like my threads nor the Astros.
Freebie likes some aweful futbol club(who could beat the Astros at baseball.)
DIGI got our names mixed up. Again.
I appreciated Adam's compliment about the averageness to above averageness of the is thread.
Adam seems LIKE GOOD PEOPLE.
You asked "what".
The Astros beat the Blue Jays.
p.s. The Beastie Boys are better trio than Hanson, but not Rush. And, I'm about to go watch "Takers" with Paul Walker.

ive never purchased a professional sports jersey ...
but if I do, it will be a vintage astros jersey from the Nolan Ryan time...
FYI, was born in houston and made it out to several games as a kid from 1972-1977. Left Houston in 77.

Bitchburgh. That's a new one. I couldn't read that far. Hopefully it mentions how the Pirates have owned the Phils even before they went out and bought their way into playoff contention. Their pitching staff makes more than the Bucs' whole team and they still can't win a series. Hopefully one of the writers were able to spend a weekend out west and soak in the nice environment, like many Philly fans I spoke with on Friday and Sunday. Once we exchanged pleasantries and those fans naturally started making asshole comments, I felt it necessary as a gracious host to let them take a walk down Federal St and see what not 1, but 6 Lombardi trophies look like. Then maybe swing across town to see 3 Stanley Cup banners that aren't completely tattered by time.

So true. Fuck, so true.
10 game home-stand coming, and Wandy might be back next week. Maybe, just maybe...
Hahahahaha! Bob has better chance of getting laid.
abbott, I moved to Houston in 77, weird. Definitely would agree on Nolan, but I would also sport a J.R. I used to love the second Bad News Bears movie, "LET THEM PLAY! LET THEM PLAY!"

Welcome to my season.
And it's the Cubs that fuck goats, we suck balls...
baseballs.
I hope this young movement thing isn't just an effort to make us the Royals of national league.

I have to give you respect for promoting your fandom for your HOME team even when they're the worst in the league.
But otherwise, you're delusional when you talk about the amount of people who follow your team when they were in the WS.
Everyone jumps on board when you're a winner.

the Astros had a good run from 03-05, with national recognition with Clemens and Pettitte on the mound.
the '05 team was a joy to watch. that playoff run was glorious for the city of H-Town. there was a 14 inning game in the WS, and an 18 inning game against the Braves that year (the Chris Burke game)- the longest in baseball playoff history.
they just couldn't get it done against the Sox and got swept. they are atrocious now. embarrassingly bad.
Phillies fans should be on their knees thanking the baseball gods everyday for Lidge, Roy O and Pence!

can you get me one of those vintage jerseys ... you know orange and the blue star?
Was born in Houston and made it to many games 72-78. Also ran into Earl Campbell once.

on a baseball related note, i saw a pre-screening of "Moneyball" last week and it was quite good. Any true fan of the sport will enjoy it, i think.

Man!
Fuck 2011!
First the sucking. Then, the trades. Then, more sucking. And, even more sucking for the worst season in franchise history.
I was thinking atleast in the off season the pain would stop. But alas no, it continues...

2012 might be the end of the world, however, if the Astros have another year like this one, I say bring it on.

way to bring shame to a shameless division
but how about those two central opponents battling it out for the pennant? pretty sweet, right? just think how many combined wins they both had versus the astros and pirates...
