Ahhhhh I just tweeted that he he... Is so proud of HIM!!!!!!! :o

In November 1981 Adam Yauch '86 wrote in his admissions essay to Bard, "My major interest still lies in music, and I am including a tape of my band. All of the music is original, written and performed by the Beastie Boys." Ten years later, "Check Your Head" by the Beastie Boys wafted nonstop through the windows of main campus during my freshman year. This May, at the President's Awards Ceremony, Bard will present Adam with the Charles Flint Kellogg Award in Arts and Letters for his "significant contributions to the American artistic or literary heritage." In celebration of music that defined another era, two Bardians will be awarded alumni/ae honorary doctor of fine arts degrees during this year's Commencement ceremony.

There was a time when Yaucher would have come directly on the boards to participate in discussion like this...

Then again Kathy Bates has nothing to do with this discussion.

Okay well if I am wrong and it's taken out of context I do apologize, but it's not the way I am taking it. A few weeks ago somebody joked about Kathy Bates in reference to ME and my MCA gushing. I let it go because they said it was a joke which is FINE, I get it. I don't expect a guy to respond the way I do! But I only made one comment in this thread that I was proud of him and his award, and then the stupid Kathy Bates stuff comes up. I'll just not comment next time..

No offensive Jo, but as my outsider point of view... you are kinda over the top and creepy with your MCA gushing. It's comparable to my daughters friends talk about Justin Bieber and the like. I understand you're a fan, and good for you. But, you're in your 30's and your constantly going on about a man that is happily married and has kids.

No offense.

Well there is no use in arguing over it. A board with predominately men you’re not gonna get it and I don’t expect you to either. I know now why so many of the girls I know on other related fan-sites won’t post here. But I still do so say what you want. And I don’t think the fact that he has kids or that he is married has anything to do with it. I respond the same way I do to the female artists that I like because I just enjoy being a fan! Also my age has nothing to do with it either. If you don’t get that then that’s on you not me. I’m just having fun!

Bard visit
dear members of the message boards, thanks for the kind well wishes and congrats on the award.

it was great to go back and visit bard and see some old friends….. as to the question of my being class of 1986,or graduating no i did not graduate i only went to school there for 2 years. my freshman year was 82-83 and my sophomore year was 83-84. but the school still considers me “class of ‘86” this actually makes sense, because if the school is going to seat me at a table with other people who were freshman when i was a freshman, they seat me at a table with people from the class of 1986….. that’s my crew……

thanks again for the congrats! was amazing to go back and visit bard and see some old friends.

There's a chick who used to be on here (and probably still is, but as a different username or lurker) who not only stalked the band all over the world, but "coincidentally" got their luggage by accident in Australia off the luggage turnstyle and then up and moved from her location to NYC. It was all a bit creepy and there were restraining orders taken out, etc. There's a reason people are creeped out by gushing fans for this reason alone. Just some insight into past female behaviour.

Well I’ve been in a lot of fandoms and yes girls would do crazy things like follow their favorite star around or find their hotels. I’m sorry yeah some of that is BAD but some of it is harmless too. Stalking is different obviously. If somebody crossed that with the Beasties then I’m sorry to hear that but it has nothing to do with me and I resent being tied in with that. If I wanna say MCA is the best thing since slice bread then I shouldn’t be made to feel like that’s a bad thing. Believe it or not fans do say those things. Shocker I know, wow but really it’s true.

I could call a lot people out for overly obsessing and creating constant threads about a tour that’s not gonna happen. Or the ten different threads complaining about their album orders. I’m sure the guys don’t appreciate that either. Talk about insensitive, but I don’t say anything. That girl ain’t me so I’d appreciate it if you stop comparing other female fans to her. Beasties official MB don’t say “for male fans only” does it? If it does can you point that out to me??? I’ve done nothing but praised the guys and I’ve not had to travel anywhere to do that.

Supporting and having passion for the band is encouraged, of course. I think most of us who have been here for a decade or longer can attest to that, but when you are criticized for being a bit overboard, just take it as constructive criticism instead of an attack. We all have been there where this site gets rather addictive. Some people have even lost their marriages over this place and/or met their husbands/wives/SO's here too.

There are plenty of fangirls on this site who love, love, love the band, collect their memorabilia and crush on the guys and it doesn't come off as creepy. There is a way to master your passion in a way that comes across just that - a fan - instead of obsessed. I hope you can become that lovable, non-threatening girl we would offer an extra ticket to.

Who are you the Beastie Boys official fankeeper? You don’t dictate what I should say and how I should react to anything. I’m sorry but the creepy one is you. Are you sending MCA cryptic messages on who says what? This is silly. Don’t like what I say then don’t respond! I don’t want to be a bitch but I’m not the one man. I don’t like pushy people who think they know everything because they spent ten years on one forum. Good for you I’m glad! Anyway I don’t mind discussing “crazy fans” but I don’t want to ruin this thread any more than it is. It was supposed to be to congratulate Yauch.

PS- I’m done with this thread. If you have any issues with me feel free to send me a PM. I don’t like being nasty but I will defend myself.

Hey that was me JoLo and I'm sorry. I did not know I was stirring the waters, I was just making an observation. See, sometimes I smoke dope and talk smack on BBMB and for this I am truly sorry. It's usually the next day I see somthing stupid like this and cringe. Again,I am sorry. Sorry to you, other board members, and the band the Beastie Boys especially around the "In a World Gone Mad", To the Five Buroughs era...

I'm going to lay off the grass for a while and basically, just chill out.

Let me steer this thread back on subject..
Congratulations on the award. Go Beastie Boys Go!
