He has edited for a lot of big names so maybe they need an extra editor. I don't know but I'm a keep a look out. ;)

check the Hathaway link above, kids.
he is listed as Art Director for "Don't Play No Game..."
I'm wondering: might this video be animated?

well, art director doesn't mean "animation director". Though I'd love to see another animated Beastie Boys video.
great find Jo! excited to see this video.

?????.....this track and OK have the weakest rhymes....if they're looking for air play then they should have used TMR.....

I think about it this way. The fact that the band can't really come together for awhile for tours and stuff like that then save the really strong tracks for later. I would hate to have one of the full fledged rap songs released NOW without the band to be there and back it up fully. ;)

OK's lyrics always get stuck in my head...I love the rhymes. DPNG doesn't have the strongest rhymes, but it's not always about that with the Beastie Boys...

air play? the radio has proven many times over that it hardly holds a standard for lyrical substance. TMR ranks among some of the weaker lyrics on the record anyhow, IMO.
DPNG is hands down the most radio accessible song on HSC.

hands down!
it's a really accessible song for non-fans alike. musically/instrumentally, with a catchy chorus that crosses genres.
I for one have ranked "Dont Play..." in my Top 5 since day 1 so I don't see the fuss.
lyrically? was it the tartar sauce line? lol.
Twenty Years of schooling and they put you on the day shift (y)
...yeah TMR doesn't even fit into any Beastie Boys formula to me.
name checking Christian Loubatins and promoting the "Stop Snitching" mentality of hip hop.
weak sauce.

i agree TMR has weak lyrics, but i'm assuming they're releasing DPNG cuz of the collabo would allow more air play....SO, release TMR instead cuz Nas is more of a pull than santigold.
and Jo.....saving the strong stuff doesn't make any sense.....MSN is obviously a single.....but DPNG and OK would be the last trax i'd make a single.

Well don't listen to me what do I know. I just know that Long Burn The Fire, Here's A Little Something For Ya and a few others I hope they wait on to be able to promote together. I absolutely love Don't Play No Game but I can see why they are releasing it. It has a very radio friendly vibe to it and the focus doesn't have to be on the Beastie Boys video wise.

It would be great to see a video for a surprise full-version release of The Lisa Lisa/Full Force Routine. That would pop everyone's lid :)
I would like to see a video for Say It and Too Many Rappers as well.

DPNG is easily the catchiest track on the whole album. If strong rhymes were the deciding factor on picking singles then 99.9% of the records being played on the radio today wouldn't be singles. Guys like Talib Kweli would be having number 1 records.
I think its a perfect choice, and is my favorite track on the whole record.

Cool choice for a video. (y) Excited to see it.
It's funny TMR is getting shitted on for lyrics, given some of the tastes people have broadcast here in the past. I agree,to an extent. The references are a little suss. I like it, so whatevs.
Would have been rad to see a re-cut version of that original TMR vid (I bet the Bonaroo performance of the song was pro-shot by someone in the band's camp). I could see it being next, next single.

I'm excited! I've been picturing NYC streets, slo-mo with the fire hydrants shooting out gleaming water over the boys and santi as they throw a classic block party to blow up pool animals or something. Count me in! :D
(Like that scene in Do The Right Thing, when they have the fire hydrant going and it is hot as f*** out!) Love it.

TMR just already got it's push the first time around. re-releasing a single that's already been released, new version or not, would just be foolish.
while your personal taste certainly disagrees with the choice, you have to realize why DPNG is getting the single treatment, right? I mean, it's clear as day the poppiest outing on the entire record, especially next to TMR. if their sole intent is to round up airplay and they didn't choose DPNG, now that would just be flat out senseless.

I think dpng is easily the worst track on the album, with ok right behind it. Both way too pop for me, I know that's what's popular on the radio now, but that's not what the beasties are about. There are so many better options for a new single. And why would you want a new single where the guest gets more airtime than the bboy?

Well we know they read the boards so maybe the thread about it being a summer jam got them thinking to make it a single.
I love The Cars so I'm digging OK despite the weak rhymes.

DPNG Is what the Beasties are about, to some extent, otherwise it wouldn't be on their album. And it's the right choice for a summer single, no doubt. And it's a cool song!
