FOR Those who knew the invisible scratch pickles... know the origins of q-bert, mix master mike and dj apollo and the rest....

5 years later I still feel the same....

I've commented before on how I think mix master mike wasn't given all the musical freedom back in 98'

evident in my 2007 post ... "In my opinion ... MMM is not vibing in philly..." posted 08-03-2007

http://bbs.beastieboys.com/showthread.php?t=82000 ....

Quote from THAT post .... (For the younger music fan whom may not have been around from the beginning could also conclude that post punk era Beastie’s were dominated / innovated by Rick Rubin… then the Dust brothers … then Mario C , Biz mark , Money Mark, etc… in 2004 it would have been too much... to have a huge come back.... and have TT5B's say …Produced by MIX MASTER MIKE…)

BACK BEFORE ... Then, the tension in the beasties can be directly heard in the bands 1997-1998 recordings... from MMM's debut in country mikes greatest hits.... they had this sick new dj and they didn’t want him taking over the next full studio album... so they gave him his spots for his turntables to go wa-wa... 3mc's and one dj etc... but for the rest kept him muffled... by 2004 the beasties made mix master mike an honorary 'beastie boy' and they trusted him with the 100% power of the LIVE show pumping out of his decks .... and on TT5B's it was listed that the album was produced by the beastie boys?....when in fact the whole album is a mix master mike mix tape with the beasties rapping over it... but no mention of his name (the original scratch pickles fans on here!!! will know what I am talking about...) THEN... the mix up... again , amazing, MMM killed it on.... off the grid - among others...... not ONE mention of his name ? ... but now with the THSC2, again I feel a tension, like mix master mike is being paid big time to do the service as a dj, he absolutely kills it on this NEW album and once again NOT one mention on the album of his name, but the beasties do have the foresight to list ALL the samples that mix master mike has used in the THSC2....???? and the foresight too list all the other artists and band members? but not MMM?

NOT ONE mention of the mad scientists himself...? kid yourself not.... beasties would not be relevant TODAY without mix master mike....

Hurricane sucked so bad.... and fucked up so much live.... that by mid-1992 the beasties couldn’t trust him anymore to have any of the POWER of the live show in his own hands... every song had instruments in the background , in case hurricane fucked up, if hurricane actually played a record??? , while beasties rapped? there was no mixing or touching the vinyl playing, his scratching sucked and he killed all the songs every time he tried, he only scratched while other instruments carried the song, and HE sucked, BAD..... AND.... during difficult tracks, with sick rhythm flow like... finger licking good.... they couldn’t trust hurricane not to fuck it up!!! so they would just have him turn the sound off.... and the boys would do an accapella version of the entire track with no music... when the song was over .... hurricane would have the NEXT record qučd to drop....

" going back to new York city I do believe I've had enough'

he had one mix live... he'd beat match... looking down a barrel of a gun ...into Rhymin & Stealin....

... it's basically the same beat... anyone could of mixed that....

.... that's how pathetic this dj was... BUT during that time they had so much of ILL COMMUICATION written already that they just had to put one last studio album out with dj hurricane, while they were STILL hot and before anyone noticed how bad dj hurricane sucked... that fine line... the whole, rave, dmc, trip-hop etc... shit was coming in around then.... and people were actually starting to pay attention to what dj's were actually doing... and hurricane was the laughing stock of the group... they even tried to help usher him out of the group with his own album...the hurra... it sucked bad...

****except....stick em up.... obviously... that track still rocks...

*** ad rock and milk*** were better though... but that's also cus 'milk' could rap...

hurra couldn't... hurra sucked... so he started touring as the "beastie boys dj..." and that was the final nail in HIS coffin cus it was a chance for everyone to see up close how bad he really sucked... i think he would of dragged the beasties down with him... and they would of never have seen the 2000's...

this is STILL my favourite band after 29 years ... and YES the truth is harsh...

50 year old dudes on mic's with street cred? cant be dissed when mix master mike is the DJ

50 year old dudes cant put out the best hip hop album of 2011 without him!!

Believe it!!! Agree with it...

AND...

give it up for MIX master MIKE...

Cus he sounds so nice... and he looks so nice too...

I'm sorry, really confused. So MMM did most of production on TT5B's? I never-ever knew that.....are you just playing or are you serious?

Mix-Up same or you meant his scratch parts on the Mix-Up just killed it specifically Off the Grid? Or all his scratch parts all over the Mix-Up killed it? Again are you just messing around, how do you know all this?

Again regarding HSCP2, do you think MMM produced most of it or that all his scratch parts on the new record are just awesome....hence killing it again? Why on earth wouldn't they mention his name, that is just plain rude in my opinion. Old jerks, totally not grateful for their relevancy 98 and beyond thanks to MMM.

They should have just named the new album "Mix Master Mike", that would have been fucking awesome like Beastie Boys new album MIX MASTER MIKE, you know the boys always playing. I mean if they were going to name it after a bus driver then why not right. Opening track #1 - Relevant Riot, which could be a trippy MMM mixtape vibe thing with awesome scratches, distorted vocals, etc. all done by Mike of course. Album cover....hmmm thinking something Black and White like IC, maybe just a painting of like 3 mics dangling down, mic cords up plugging into a turntable that is featured front and center, no faces only the mics, the cords and a record player....kinda like LL Cool J's arm, upside down like a monkey swinging from a tree, but plugged in to a Turntable Supercomputer that is basically running the world, saving whales, killing bad people, snowboarding and shit.

Dude I'm with you, love it. Hurricane sucked ass all the way back to Davy's Ride. What an ass-clown, thank god MMM came, saw and saved their careers to solidify their place in music history.
