This was a serious question, my wife and I were going to be painting the master bathroom this weekend, and I thought back over the years, and there were many aquatic themed bathrooms in my life, and I am wondering why?

end of really. you can choose not to but its perfectly acceptable to have an aquatic theme , just dont go fucking mental. My mates ex-wife went way over the top, couldnt move for fucking conch shells.

I can understand around a bathtub or shower, but I have seen a lot of half-baths(no tub) with sea shells, a sand display, fish wallpaper, etc. and was like why?

So it is just water. Nothing more. I wonder why the sea, and not a lake though? Maybe those people never got sand in their swimsuits before, because I don't want to think about that again.

The theme in my own private bathroom is that a person's identity is determined by place in society, the theme in my guest bathroom is that man is essentially alone and isolated in the world. I thought that would be ironic.

The bathroom is also splashed with a bit of burlesque. Its a nice combo.

I don't have a theme in my bathroom, I just have a giant red toothbrush hanging on the wall, a print of a minimalist watercolor landscape of a farm from the 70's, and a small gold ornate frame with a lithograph of a lady holding a scythe in a field. She's tired from toiling in the field, but looks beautiful and strong. it's above the sink, so I can look at it and remember how much harder life could be. also, it is cool-looking.

got a burnt orange rug, and the walls are a light crystal blue. floor and shower area is tiled with small white tiles with cobalt blue accents, and the shower curtain is plain frosted plastic...or rather some kind of material that's like vinyl but is anti-mildew and doesn't outgas chemicals. I live in an attic, so the walls are all slanty and there are cool shapes and angles everywhere. Mine has a middle eastern vibe - there's people with turbins riding elephants and shit...

Maybe it's because we are a couple blocks from the beach that we don't feel the need for aquatics... even when I lived in the Sierra's, I didn't have one...

Friend of mine has this, underwater themed shower curtain, paintings of dolphins on the walls, sea shell soap dish (with shell shaped mini-soaps), painted aqua and white, etc etc... It's kinda weird.
