Wouldnt they be able to sell more than 10 times more if they were priced at $75.00. I was ready to buy as the page was loading...then I put my CC away after I saw the price.
I got mine ages ago. Just read that they've re released them.
I agree though...they'd sell a whole lot more at a lower rate because trust me, they don't feel like they're worth $750.
Still cool to own some though so ner ner to the ahem, so called numero uno fan ;)

I'd go more than $75...I'd say the sweet spot is about $150. That's what I'd pay. But unfortunately $750 is out of my league.

I think $750 is way out of most people's league.
And watch out.... if TopSpin has anything to do with this, they will be available on Amazon.com for $20 in a month! (Just kidding...kinda)

I don't like using the guise of charity to justify such a ridiculous price...maybe they'll make a set, maybe not 12-in. and sell them for under $100...that I could swing, but for $750 and say that the sales will be split between charities? Come on now fellas!
b-grrrlie
08-01-2011, 02:31 PM
Didn't they used to go for $300 or so on eBay and even then the moneys went to charidies?

Yeah, i couldnt believe the price either, i was SO excited to see them for sell, because those are like the piece to my puzzle for my collection, but 750...i was like holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have to figure out a way to get that.hahahaa

Let's say they ask money from rich people to help the charities, which is, in a way, pretty fair..
" so many bilionnaires while so many lack...so come on party people share up your stack"
on the other way : the poors can't own those dolls...which is pretty sad and unfair...
Just sayin'

well, in between "rich" and "poor", is like the normal people, even the normal people are going to contemplate whether or not 3 dolls, (very cool dolls, at the matter) are worth 750$
i mean, im down for buying them, just have to wait till xmas! hahahahaa

yeah of course "poor" was a generic term (extrem on purpose) just a way of talking..even thought the "middle" class (which is composed by huge money differences too) can afford it by saving money for several month if they want to...so..

I will split it with somebody if you just want two of the b-boys. I’ll pay about $400 bucks for an MCA action figure. :D They need to sell em separately. JK!!
No seriously though I see these dolls (oops action figures) on e-bay all of the time and there are always several bids for them. As long as people out there are gonna spend that kinda money then why not. Sure it sucks for the fans but I think the guys make up for it in other ways.

They probably cost a lot to make, but there has to be someone who will make them for less... at less than $100, i'd be willing to bet they'd hit a shit ton more revenue than now over the long run.
I'd definately ask for a set for Christmas(y)

I want them, but I have no money and school is about to start and I just went out shopping with the kids and shit, spending money I dont have ... action figures are not in the cards for me ..
but if I was a single guy with no family I would be happy to drop the $750

I'm surprised at the price.
especially during these tough times.
I may need to sell my dog, and then look to further my abilities in martial arts, and perform shows for money in my local neighborhood.
Rats!
BTW I did get the dolls Porky made.

I don't understand the surprise at the price and comments about why they aren't as cheap as typical action figures. We're they always $1000 before? Isn't this a price drop?
Are these for sure the same figures? Have these been stored in a secure environment for the past ten or so years? :p

yeah, they were always expensive... i just want them!

Besides, do you really want a Beastie action figure to go for the same price as a New Kids on the Block doll? I don't think so. Keep em expensive, the boys are worth it and then SOME!

Well their dolls run about $180.00 for the 5 of them together if they are new from the box. The used ones are cheaper but wouldn’t touch the used ones lol... I wonder if there are used Beastie action figures. Hmmm surely those would be cheaper!!

What an excellent cause, but still a tiddy bit too expensive for myself to obtain, and provide such charity.
Someone with them should cast the heads in silicone and make resin casts from the molds and sell them. With some Medicom 12" bodies, a lick of paint and a some orange overalls and you have your very own customs.

Since 97% of the purchase price goes to charity, couldn't we technically claim this as a charitable donation and get SOME of the cash back come tax time? Has anyone else thought of this? Please Discuss.

thats a negative because the real motivation behind the purchase is to obtain a product
of course you could sneak it by the IRS and fight it in tax court if you ever get audited
Ha! They even made it on Perez Hilton (http://perezhilton.com/2011-08-03-beastie-boys-action-figures-on-sale-and-proceeds-go-to-charities)...
The problem with the price is that some chumps WILL buy them because they are a little too obsessed with the boys. They'll put them on a credit card and have their fleeting peak of happiness but will soon just be put away in a box that'll follow them around forever, get them out twice a year and go "oh yeah, cool huh" and put them back.
I know it's for charity and it'll probably raise money but a chance of reaching the real fans it'd be better to a $10 raffle ticket system for a chance to win, the more tickets you buy the bigger the chance.
Ok so they may end up on ebay for $1.5k but so what, the winners played the game of chance and won. It still favours the rich like life generally does as those who can buy the most tickets have the bigger chance but even buying 75 tickets (ie $750s worth) doesn't guarantee you a win. Those who didn't win will generally be happy that a couple of bucks has gone a charities way.

And so in your scenario, the "real" fan who wins the figures with a $10 ticket...what do they do with the figures that's different than that money-having fan who "have their fleeting peak of happiness but will soon just be put away in a box that'll follow them around forever, get them out twice a year and go "oh yeah, cool huh" and put them back"?
People with less money appreciate action figures better?

While $750 might be a little high for these, keep in mind that they are high end limited edition items. They aren't meant for everyone and that's kinda the point.
I was lucky to be able to purchase a set a few years back. I have them on display in my living room in a nice glass display case I bought from Ikea along with a lot of my other merchandise. So, I get to see Mike, Adam, and Adam every day!

Not really. I meant it truly makes the dolls special edition. Selected at random to fans. If you can guarantee wealth doesn't gets you something others can't for once, then yes ALL people appreciate the action figures better because they are appreciated for their rareness, not their value. The whole equation of wealth is taken out and everyone gets to donate to the charity.
But I'm a wet socialist liberal.
