I just realized all the main albums from Paul's Boutique onwards have answer phone gags, either people leaving them messages that they felt amusing enough to put on the album or what I think is probably intentionally recorded gags (Ask for Janice).
Lets discuss these little oddities which make every Beastie Boys album that bit more hilarious.
If I've missed any let me know, this is all I could think of off the top of my dome.

Would cookie puss fit in there? Maybe not it was an entire song, but it was a phone skit/gag. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DOMxm0o12c

Haha of course! Can't believe I forgot it; I was thinking, where did this answer phone gag tradition come from? And then its so obvious, Cookie Puss, their first hip hop styled single.
I wonder if they intentionally included answer phone gags on all their albums (with the exception of LTI) as some kind of reference to Cookie Puss or if its just another quirky thing that the guys love, that becomes a trademark, such as starting verses with "I'm [insert name here]" or using fish eye lenses in their music videos.
Curious anyhow.
Haha what a skit to miss off - the one that started it all. D'oh! :D

am torn between "allooooooooooooooooooo" or "fuck you my man". i think the maestro is a better tune but i prefer to "sing" along to freak freaks skit but its not even the best sample in that tune. oh bollocks. good question.

Nah I don't get it, is it supposed to be funny? Maybe a inside joke, I don't know that's my least favorite maybe the only real bad track by the beasties

I think its vaguely amusing because of the intro being so epic... ..were expecting something huge.
And it seems the guy leaves very short, informationless answerphone messages.
So yeah its a bit silly. Not a huge belly laugh, a bit of the grin from the boys I guess.
