Lively debate enables a wider population to view and witness such behaviour that, in this case, displays a fairly racist attitude. You know how many complaints the BBC got? Thousands. We had the head of the BNP (extreme right wing party with essentially racist values) on Question Time. Lively debate. Showed the man up for what he truly is. It gives people the chance to shoot down ridiculous arguments and views. I was merely expressing that, whilst I disagree with Starkey's opinions, he had enough conviction - albeit misguided- to say what a fair amount of people probably believe in this country, which then gave a platform for others to shows how dumbfounded and ridiculous some of his statements were.

So yes, maybe the Klan were lively, but think of the bigger picture next time before you hit back with some attempted wit.

I didn't complain in the first place. Read the thread in order, Bob. And you can't generalize my argument like that. I'm not saying political correctness should go out the window in every walk of life, I'm just saying that in this instance it's shown the guy up for what he really thinks and provoked a reassuring outcry from the public. I basically agree with Saz's opinion, but not so much remarks about my views on this matter being compared to attitudes contributing to the outbreak of the Klu Klux fucking Klan.
