You should be watching Life Of Rhyme on Channel 4 right now... if not get it on 4OD.
Currently watching Devlin's reaction to a recording of a secondary school English teacher using his lyrics to teach children about poetic devices. Classic shit.

Just put it on +1 now. Akala is the man, no comparison in the UK.

He's definitely one of the greats, along with people like Chester P, Vulgatron & Rodney P.
If you can then stay tuned after for Dark Days- a really cool film about people living in the NYC subway... it's just been re-released by Oscilloscope.

Akala is the man.
Yes, he is. I just discovered him two days ago while reading another thread about the riots. (y)

Glad I could help put people onto him. UK hip-hop has a lot of relevance, more so than most of the shit I'm hearing out of the States right now underground and otherwise. Always good to see the messages being spread.

Chester P is fucking unreal. I saw some freestyle footage awhile back, he just killed it. Smart bloke, great rhymes.

The Banksy film is quality, didn't see the Antics Roadshow though.
I was pretty let down by How Hip-Hop Changed The World. Found it very patronising and most of the stuff they covered was very general knowledge- the way they squeezed it into a chart countdown format when it was completely unnecessary and inappropriate also ruined it a bit for me.

The antics roadshow is well worth a look, just a doc about some great pranks (some daft, some political) thru the last 40 years or so. It'll be on More4 at some point
Agreed about the hip hop thing, idris elba was too over the top reading that script, the format was wrong. Channel four did all this a lot better a few years ago with This is Hip Hop. The only good thing about this one was the stuff about the british scene and some of the talking heads stuff was funny.

the russians who painted the massive cock and balls on the bridge was the highlight for me.
I eneded up watching a bit of the hip hop thing again with the missus , and it was like elba was auditioning for Mr Motivator's job, arms in the air at every other word in a sentence.
