I was just about to post about this. You guys ok? I have friends all up on the east coast and they are texting me how scared they were! I can't get anybody to answer because all circuits are busy.

I was just reading some cell service is down in NYC. I was just sitting at my computer and my chair started shaking. my cat sorta freaked out. I got up and thought it was my upstairs neighbors jumping around or something because that usually shakes the whole building!

hope everyone is ok!

Some people felt it here some people didn't. Much like Boston I guess. My cousin said she didn't feel anything but others did. Im like 60 miles away from it and it shook my house. My friend was 30 miles away and he said pictures were falling off the walls and he almost fell down the stairs because everything was shaking so much. I'm over it though. I wish people around here would shut the fuck up about it already.

i didn't feel it in boston, but my friend who works in the same building on the same floor did. i think i might have been outside, on my way to lunch at the time.

edit: although i did come back to an email from the building manager saying "there's been an earthquake, please evacuate the building"

not sure that email is the right forum for that kind of announcement but whatever

In Los Angeles, we are trained to deal with earthquakes. Do any of you east coasters get any kind of training for that? I'm assuming not and most people did the wrong thing like running out of their buildings, not going under a desk, kicking in chairs and knocking down tables.

i doubt there's any training for any type of natural disasters around here.

i don't remember getting any in school at least.

nope, never had any sort of training. I thought running outside was the wrong thing to do...I remember when the Japan earthquake happened you saw lots of people running outside. I was wondering why they were doing that and not crouching under a table.

Yeah, you could fall down a massive chasm or something. Does that happen in earthquakes?

I trampled at least 3 women. One was a few months from retirement.

Nothing here in Florida. Or maybe there was but we didn't notice because everyone's all too busy watching to see where the hurricane is going.

Yeah felt nothing at all, but everyone I've been talking to claims that they felt it

Someone on my fb from Queens was like 'OH SHIT EARTHQUAKE' literally during the thing!

i was outside and was wondering if the building across the street was just a rehab center and everyone was taking their smoke break

then i realized that they probably wouldn't put something like that across from a kids museum...
