I am wondering if the E.P. DONT PLAY NO GAME download charted highly in any country around the world?
I've no idea how well it did in england,I followed "make some noise" for weeks and it did'nt break the top 100.
"Check it out" got into the uk top 5 in 2004.
also albums sales of HSCPT2 to date, haves it sold a million copies yet?

I don't think it got much play in the states, we have a station here in boston that loves the beasties and I have yet to hear it once, too bad I thought it would do well. I don't think hot sauce has even gone gold yet but I could be wrong, it's so hard now with not many record stores and lots of pirating, if this were a few years ago I'm sure it would, that's ok we all loved it, I bought three copies for myself and my son and nephew, I would never pirate their stuff, I can't say that about any other musician though!!!

They say as of August 7th Beastie Boys sold 301500 copies to date. I think they are doing relatively well considering that they are up against an industry that has clearly changed for the worst!

I know we have an alternative station that plays a bit of hip hop and recently I heard them play House of Pain, Cypress Hill and Dr. Dre. I posted a message on their face-book asking why they aren't playing Beastie Boys new album. A fan said that late late at night they have played Make Some Noise but that was it. (n)

During their radio breaks when the DJ's are talking they use Groove Holmes as their back up music. Always thought that was cool, but they still suck!

Ya this Boston station is alternative rock they played make some noise 3 or 4 times a day, I don't even bother with the hip hop station around here, they play the same junk all day over and over

@ WesleyOHSnaps! Yes the official single came out remixes and all.

When the band is able to reunite I think things are going to change. Sales will surely go up for Hot Sauce too... Right now it's sorta like promoting a blockbuster movie with none of the main stars to attend the red carpet. That's why I am not too worried. Considering the success of sales without the band is phenomenal! (y)

@Willyboy77 I am glad some stations are keeping Make Some Noise in rotation!!! That's great!

Well, I for one... I'm worried. If the Beasties don't sell like Lady Gaga they might not be perceived as relevant anymore, which will indicate to everyone who knows of my fan-dom that everything I've been anticipating from one of my favorite bands is was just a waste of time - - making me a feel really bad about myself. I think I'll just lay low and wait for Part One to come out.

C-CIO was number 8 in the UK. But yes, I remember it was all over the radio and had a decent promo push...

General public can't find Beasties records in general record stores anymore.
Many record stores don't even have a Beastie section, I remember Big fat love asked about finding some records printed in EU, the only album I could find was TT5B japanese import.

Record stores nowdays are desolating deserts.

The kids know Cypress Hill, but they don't know Beastie Boys, kids know Public Enemy but they don't know Beastie Boys, they know Nas but still they don't know Beastie Boys.

WTF?!

Really?

I can't think of a single record store - big chain (e.g. HMV) or independent - either in England or here in Australia which I've been to that hasn't had a Beasties section. I don't expect to see their stuff in supermarkets...but record stores?

Not doubting you, just a different experience I guess.

I'm surprised also, not having a beastie section takes away from a record store in my opinion, good knowledge in classic ass music results in a nice beastie section. Real record stores im sayin, I dig ya on that supermarket statement, even best buy gives you small chances of finding a beastie cd.

I prefer american cakes, muffins, brownies, carrot cake(my fav), but nothing beats Italian ice cream.

So one of your favourite bands has to sell millions for you not to be ashamed of them?

Judging by that logic you must only listen to top 40 chart stuff. Which must mean you live a sad life with no sense of individuality.

Sorry if that post came off sounding prick-ish, I too would love the Beasties to sell millions, but lets face it, even if they were able to publicise it with tours and whatnot it still probably wouldn't sell like Ill Communication or Hello Nasty. Its not 96 anymore, its not their prime, no artist keeps making million selling albums for their entire career and as plenty of people here have mentioned, especially not in the digital age of piracy and musical lethargy where an album just about doesn't mean shit anymore.

I would like to see how the sales do change when they do have the option of touring and doing full scale publicity again.

Of course if you were being sarcastic, my bad. The rest of my comment stands though.
