I wish I had better than a cassette tape player with an ipod adapter in my '97 beast.

it just hasn't been on full rotation for me and I'm afraid the luster has worn off :(

I still can’t rank it only because I feel like I need to experience the band performing the new material first. Right now it’s stuck in limbo. Although I must admit it’s the only album of theirs still playing continuously in my car. hmmm.

Yes id love to see them perform it live to see its full potential, watch them rock it, and its fully official they got in on lock.

Great album. Think I woulda put B-Boys In The Cut on the album if I was them, and had Lisa Lisa/Full Force as either the intro track or a full track tho.

But ya' know, its all good the way it is

I don't get why people need time to tell if and how and album ranks.

Sure I don't listen to it 1 time and throw it in the mix of my ranking catalog.

But why not after months of solid listening?

What are you waiting for? 5 years down the line the album hasn't changed. Are you trying to prove you are some sort of music elitist? Or are you waiting for others to judge the album? Are you waiting for the Bboys to say "yeah its done marinating" so you can finally be at peace knowing they won't be disappointed with you?

See I have a hard time ranking any 2000+ album over the albums in the 90's (not so much LTI). But I'd put this in between HN and IC.

Why not just rank it?

Started listening again after about a month or so as well. Long Burn The Fire and Nonstop Disco Powerpack seem to get the most replay hits for me.

None of the above. I'm not waiting on anybody and don't need Beastie Boys to tell me anything either because they probably wouldn't like my list anyway. I've just not ranked it. And that's it that's all that's all there is...

Yeah Jo is pretty much the anti-eltist, like I couldn't think of anybody less elitist (and being one myself I know the signs). I think she's been inclusive to her own detriment, which is always weird to see.

OK has really hit me lately, like show-opener hit me. And Funky Donkey. I really lightened up over time; the high points of the album (of which there are many) make it easier to appreciate the whole thing.

Yeah, OK is dope too. Would probably round out my top 3 of the album, actually.

I dig on the beat, and I wholeheartedly support the message, but I still struggle with the lyrics. they sound a bit 'under-developed'. there are too many other strong jams on the record for OK to break my top 5 (or even 10) songs on HSC. there's certainly a place for that joint in their library though, no doubt about that (y).

Its like the album just dropped for me... I am finding lustre everywhere

You recently said it about Ill Communication (and I'm paraphrasing); the vocals are like an instrument on OK, there for their aesthetic rather than their content.

while that's taken severely out of context, if that's your own personal take on it then right on (y). subjectivity reigns, rightfully :).
