My bad, I thought this said Marky Mark, and I was all like "HELLZ YEAH! That mother fucker ain't done shit since Steel Dragon!"

:o

Sounds good, although it could have been better with some "good vibrations".

This Josh guy brings some real interesting tones when he's not undertaking a perfunctory imitation of John Frusciante. Since John Frusciante had been doing the same perfunctory imitation for the last few albums, it's not by any means a bad change.

Damn it's ironic that hardcore RHCP heads are upset about the new guitarist; this is the best I think they've sounded in more than a decade.

It's the most solid record since BSSM without a doubt...one must remember that when John joined the band he was doing a perfunctory version of Hillel...I completley agree with you about to Josh's ability to bring "tone" check out "Factory of Faith" at 3:40 sec...(y)

John on Blood Sugar was untouchable (particularly on If You Have to Ask), but I think even on Mother's Milk he sounded a little more polished than Hillel. Hillel was kind of aggressive, almost Keidis in guitarist form, I think John had more feel and was more of a foil for Flea than Hillel to be honest.

What worked about his playing on Californication was stripping it all the way back (likely not by choice but as dictated by years of junk) - tapping into some of the ideas he explored on his solo shit, the high/low of Scar Tissue being the obvious example, more atmospheric functional playing in general - but from then on out the albums were just bland and shit.

Until now. And to be fair, the music they are making is still a little bland and shit, but the new guy is bringing a much more subtle approach which makes it sound kinda interesting. He's tapping into a whole nother thing. (y)
