I’m am infuriated…in the past month I keep being exposed to people tossing out the expression “Jew” in a derogatory manner…heard it in my office, some kid on his cell in the gas station, another girl in an elevator…what the fuck is going on?...it’s in the cultural vocabulary/air all of sudden…this has turned into a horrible morning because I freaked out on the colleague and the office has never seen me like that…I’d engaged him about his use of it on Tuesday and he pulled again today…I asked him to excuse himself but he didn’t…my B. I am of mixed race. My father was African American and my mother was Italian and Irish. But because of my mix, I look Hispanic (Puerto Rican I've been told countless times). My point is, growing up I would hear so called "friends" say derogatory things about Blacks in front of me not knowing my racial background. And it would piss me off to no end. Led to God only knows how many fights. But as I got older I had to realize three things:

1) There are millions of racist fucks out there in the world.
2) There is only one of me
3) I can't fight them all.

And even if I did beat the living shit out of someone, he's still going to be a racist fuck. Now he'll just be more careful running his mouth but nothing really was accomplished by me getting pissed and fighting so I gave up on that all together. I just had to realize and accept that ignorance is alive and well in our society. It will never change.

My aunt is jewish, and one of childhood friends had a jewish uncle...and they seemed like regular people, so I never really understood why people hated jews. it wasn't very common to be racist or jew hatey where I was growing up though. I didn't find out until I was an adult that people used slurs against jews.

I know some jews who make fun of themselves and each other over money stuff. but I never really make the connection on my own. maybe because I was taught that thriftiness was a good thing, so I wouldn't think to make fun of anyone for it.

just like any group of people there's the regular ass people and then there's the people that fufill the stereotype. the people that fufill their stereotypes tend to congregate into the same neighborhoods/cities. sometimes the only people you know of a certain group are the people that fufill that group's stereotype. everyone hates people that fufill their (negative)stereotypes. so if the majority of the people you know of a certain group just so happen to be the members that fufill the stereotypes of that group you think all the people of that group are fucking annoying. i can kinda understand that.
