Yeah, I watched a bunch of videos on youtube but even then they're still mentioning stuff that I have no idea about like cydia and so forth. I just keep thinking if I try this myself I'm going to wind up bricking my phone.
Thanks anyway.

ONCE A CRIMINAL, ALWAYS A CRIMINAL
First and foremost, do your homework (http://www.mobile-phone-directory.org/Advice_centre/Phone_unlocking/Is_phone_unlocking_illegal.html). Find out why I want my phone unlocked before you start talking shit, asshole.
Second, even if it was illegal I still wouldn't care. Once I pay for a phone it becomes my property and I will do with it whatever the hell I wish. I absolutely refuse to let someone else tell me what I can and cannot do with something that belongs to me. If you're that weak minded, then it sucks to be you.
Finally, you're dismissed. Now, run along and play and let grown folks talk.

Yeah, warranty goes out the window. That much I do know. That's why I'm trying to get as much info on this as I can before I do anything, if I do anything at all.
Here's the deal....I don't have an iPhone but I'm thinking about getting one, an older one. iPhone 3 16 gb. I don't care about the iPhone 4 or 4s or 5. I don't need a phone to do all that shit. A 3 is good enough for what I do regarding work and so forth. Problem is, I don't want to get back into another contract. Wife and I just left Sprint a few months back because they were bending us over ever single month. Got tired of that shit. Had to leave. We went to Cricket. Combined we pay $115 a month....every single month (it's constant, never some random number like it was with Sprint) for unlimited talk, text and web and it's great. Problem is we had to trade in our Sprint phones for Cricket phones. We went with Sanyo Zio. I like the android OS but the phones themselves suck ass. I can't stand them.
What were thinking of doing do is getting unlocked iPhones and installing prepaid SIM cards. Fuck signing anymore contracts. So, we were trying to decide whether we wanted to buy iPhone 3's already unlocked (which is unbelievably expensive) or just buy regular iPhone 3's and try to unlock them ourselves (which is unbelievably risky if you don't know what the fuck you're doing and I don't know what the fuck I'm doing.)
So I thought I would throw the question up here and see what people knew about.

Maybe I am. I just get tired of people not being able to let shit go. The past is that past and that's it. It's gone. For good. Do you think Teh's the only one I hear this from? I get it from all sides...from new friends about who I used to be....from old acquaintances about who I've become....etc. Ironically, I actually come online to get away from some of the bullshit.

Yep, that's it. I asked a simple question about cell phones and you turned it in to a social commentary about things that I did years ago, but according to you, I'm the one having trouble letting go.
If you say so.
I'm done with this thread.

I think it would be better to just get a different phone that actually works. I just got rid of that iphone and it got really creaky in the last year, even though software was updated and it had a brand new sim card etc.

Really? Well, that's good to know. Thank you, Doc. In the last couple of days, after much discussion, wife and I have pretty much moved away from the iPhone idea and decided to go with what is comfortable to both of us: a Samsung Transfix (because it's smaller and she loves the android OS as opposed to her old BB) and for me, a Samsung Indulge...because it's the closest I'm going to get to my beloved Sprint Samsung Transform. I loved the phone, I hated the carrier.

Steve Jobs vowed to destroy the Android phones and all knockoffs, even if it took every last penny of the $40billion that Apple is worth and it was the last thing he did with his last dying breath. Just sayin'

I think usage of the term 'commentary' overstates my posts somewhat.
Personally, it just cracks me up to see you go apeshit crazy like back in the day.

Close enough.

You think I went "apeshit crazy like back in the day" in this thread? Wow. If that's the case, then you don't remember as much about me as you think you do, Teh.

Actually, I dropped back in to answer Doc and you started up again with more of your inane crap.
And now I am done. I hope you find the attention you so desperately crave, Teh, but you're not going to get any more from me.
