And why.
1. In 3's--I listen to this song nonstop when Im working out, it gets me hyped from start to finish. And for some reason I think the name is perfect.
2. Shambala
3. Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament

I think MND counts, just. So...
1) Sabrosa
2) Electric Worm
3) Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament
HM: In 3's, Transitions, The Gala Event...and on a slightly different note I guess 33% God deserves a mention.

oh yeah, The Melee, Transitions, Sabrosa, Sneakin Out the Hospital.
I wish I could put Dedication on this list, but the vocals completely undermine the wickedness of that groove.

1. Off The Grid..........the best song on TMU, a total barn-burner, and one that can stand up to the best of their hip hop.
2. Drinkin' Wine........the best track on In Sounds, and one that really stood out from the rest of the album (heck, the rest of the BB instrumental stuff period, for that matter). I loved it's "weirdness" and sense of ambience.
3. Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament.........and recent or not, I've gotta go with this one. I've never been a hugefan of the BB's instrumentals, but for one to come along on a completely rap album, yet not detract from anything and hold it's own, was big. Excellent track, great political message.

I try not to count Something's Got to Give, since it's in my top 5 of their whole catalogue. Plus it makes 'Top Instrumental' list-making a whole lot easier :p

THANK YOU!
I feel like the only person who's ever showed any love for this cut. It's been mad slept on.
Well, we're surely seeing a trend here with In 3's and Futterman's Rule. Looks like we've got a coupla fan favorites on our hands. I've always wondered why Futterman's never made the In Sounds cut, but the more I think about it, it's considerably heavier (on the rock tip) than those other jams. They were going for that smokey, loungey vibe I suppose.

MND and Off the Grid have been mentioned more than each of those songs.
It was really only because you kept insisting The Melee was worthwhile that I persisted, btw.

I almost have to include MND and OTG in this discussion but that only leaves me with one choice amongst over a dozens good choices...
can we include Something's Got To Give as an instrumentally made honorable mention?- love that bass line

The song itself isn't played live, though. Bits of it probably are, but I'm sure the main 'instrument' is a DX7 looping a bunch of shit, and they programmed in bits of live playing from all sorts of parts of the one jam.
Would love to be wrong, but I isolate Something's Got to Give as being one of their outright best songs just to keep shit simple for simple old me.
EDIT: there's every chance they took a simlar approach with MND, like the cymbal crashes here and there. Fuck it. I don't know. MND goes hard. It sounds more like live playing from start to finish over a loop.
EDIT EDIT: just noticed you said 'honourable mention' and now feel like a twit

well, I feel like MND still needs to defeat the test of time before it truly secures itself. as aforementioned, it's age undoubtedly offers it a bit of an edge. OTG was already pretty established as a popular cut, IMO. there was just an unexpected amount of support for futterman's that I was unaware of, nor was I aware that In 3's had such a large fanbase. was simply making an observation.
It was really only because you kept insisting The Melee was worthwhile that I persisted, btw.
just doin my part, one convert at a time. ;)

wait, what? dusting off AIFST, it looked like the band was producing all that magic from that rotating stage...
damn, Futterman's Rule really needs to be on my list

not really. did you mean studio track? when I hear SGTG I think of the live version for some reason...
that Instrumental Gala Event Tour was pretty neat.
remember in the Pageant Tour when they would enter the arenas to Futterman's Rule as their intro?
sick!

not really. did you mean studio track?
No I obviously meant that they sampled everything live in concert and then projected holograms up onto the stage to bamboozle concert-goers into thinking they were playing it live.
Yes, the album track. I would go to more shows if I was an American.
EDIT: Actually, I've always thought a cool way to use Cookie Puss would be to play that beat as an intro and have Mike D up on screen 'phoning' that evening's crowd. Asking them if he could speak to Cookie Puss. Like, to start the show or something. I dunno.

- Biscuits and Butter - The most representable connection between studio and live spirit in last 10-15 years.
- In 3's - Great moments after hard hip hop sound.
- B For My Name - Maybe the most remarkable sign of new era BBoys direction. Too much philosophy, but I like it :)

I would love to see In 3's live, but multilateral is making it's way up my list fast and I never thought I would say this about an album that has lyrics on it but it may be my fav track on the new album.
