I'm not. I nearly did but I didnt. Technically it wasnt really the army I would have been in but I had to take the test and passed it but decided not to go any further. I often wonder what might have been.

This is pointless and vague rambling so I'll say it better:

I played trumpet to quite a high standard and was encouraged to try and join a military band when i was 17 and it looked like a cool thing to do. I took the entrance test and did really well and the recruitment officer then tried to get me to go into all kinds of other roles. I said i just wanted to know about playing in a band and he tried to discourage me from that so i told him bollocks.

Incidentally, I got loads of stick for not wearing a poppy this year. I never do. My wife's grandad (a WWII veteran) pointed out that he doesnt wear one principally because he fought for people to have the right to do whatever the fuck they want.
