It pretty much deserves its own thread. Is anyone else playing?

For what it's worth it's a possible contender for game of the generation. There is almost nothing about it I dislike.

I just bought it and spent half an hour. I'm too tired to give it a proper go.

One thing I've noticed so far is that the graphics aren't as special as I thought they were going to be. But to be fair, I did get the shoddy ps3 version.

But Dark Souls is balls harder. I know, I know different mechanics, but as far as rpgs go Dark Souls is one of the hardest video games since Demon Souls.

i bought it and played it for hours on sunday and liked it but forgot that i never have time for video games during the week anymore so i have no idea when i'm ever going to finish this game

i spent like 2 hours exploring a damn cave on sunday, i'm never getting anywhere :(

i'm also falling into that trap i always fall into with games like this, where i made a melee character, and i played for a while, and now i'm starting to think "hmm, i wonder what a mage would be like?" so i'm probably gonna end up starting over again

i did the same thing with world of warcraft, which is probably a blessing because i certainly don't need that game in my life

Spells are the shit. I finally beat my first dragon; the game has been bleeding non-storyline quests so there's just heaps to do. After the farce of buying Dead Island, I'm glad I finally made a good call again on a games purchase.

Yeah, I think it is. But I never played Oblivion.

I've managed to avoid the game so far, last thing I need is another distraction but this thread has made me want want want!

I took the easy route and downloaded that shit. Pretty cool. and yeah it's just like Fallout but old times style (with it's own differences of course).

Yeah, I think it is. But I never played Oblivion.

Oblivion was cool but skyrim has a lot more features than oblivion did, has a lot more options in the game, also alot more communication.

Took on a giant. Won't do that again for a while. Pretty cool how they basically keep mammoths as pets.

How is it on PS3? I have been hearing it does not run so well?

I'm on Xbrick so I don't know. The only issue I have known of is textures not loading properly if you install to the HDD so I just rock the disc as is. Not sure about PS3. You should definitely check it out, man. (y)

It's got a stupid post-processing based blur (even though the res is the same as the 360), a bug thats making it lag should your save file exceed 5mb and slightly pair bak tree physics.

Other than that - it's fine.

Played for a couple 5-6 hours so far. I've played Morrowind, & Oblivion as well. Always played an Orc, big, green, 2-handed weapon grunt type character.

So far, I'm loving Skyrim, It has the feel of Morrowind, and the graphics++ of Oblivion.

Northern Lights, and waterfalls, Oh My!!!!

Menu system took a bit to get used to but I feel like it's way more efficient for those of us playing on a console (360).

Overall, I like it. Will report back later when I've logged some more hours.

playing on a console (360).

No one has a decent pc, or is the pc version just worse?

i have it on pc. i have no frame of reference because i didn't play the console version but i'm enjoying it. the menus are a little clunky, but nothing that ruins the experience (it really sounds like they designed them with consoles in mind but whatever)

i really am tempted to start a new character and give magic a try, but i've come so far with my melee dude, i really don't want to turn back.

i'm also enjoying that the imperial general (tullius) appears to be voiced by colonel tigh from battlestar galactica. choosing my allegiance was not difficult.

I would love to have it on PC, but no, not set up for games unfortunately.

I just tried to take on a dragon which had landed in a camp of giants. They dealt it some major damage for me, and I crept in and took the kill. A giant then clubbed me into the sky. (n)

I have a dark elf, double casting destruction and restoration, it's fun but I'm made of glass. You pretty much have to keep a companion in the early going, and spend lots of time healing them while they take beatings for you. Still, that can be an interesting twist in and of itself.

The trailer made me keen to play melee and I can't imagine how much easier the dwarven ruins I just cleared would have been if I could crack some heads. Oh well, still fun.

lol, yeah I've been clubbed into the sky as well. I always save every like 30 seconds in a fight just in case I get killed. I believe I've fought the same dragon or at least in the same area that you have. I killed a giant hoping to bring his ass back to life and had no success. I wonder if there is a spell strong enough for it.

I'm a magic/one handed weapon guy. To blast people with fire and electricity at the same time is hilarious and fun.

warning, i'm about to get pretty nerdy here

is anyone finding any reliable amounts of corundum ore? i want to upgrade my steel stuff, but i think i've found maybe like 3 nuggets of ore in the entire game so far. i think they were in a chest, i don't think i even found a vein

do i just need to do a better job of looking out for mines?

While I've heard the thieve's guild missions are equally as enthralling, I cannot recommend the College of Winterhold mage quests enough. They are pretty fun, and I now have a DOOM mask. (y)(y)(y)
