Again, word:(
I really don't need a list to tell me what I should be impressed with though, I just look at the stars and get blown the fuck away, lol
If u do make it to the maritimes you've got to drive through NB, tiny province; scenic as fuck. There isn't alot of commercial activities to do so you've got to explore the outdoors (I'm getting big into rock climbing atm) Saint John is Canada's oldest incorporated city in Canada, only independent brewery left (Moosehead!) in Canada (plus the worst national test rates, highest unemployment rate, and highest rate for teen pregnancy, woo!) and seeing the Atlantic is great.

I am so ready to hit some museums now that I'm all settled into our new apartment.
I wanted to go to the war museum on Remembrance day because it was free for the day, but I figured it would probably be ridiculously busy, alas. I went to the ceremony downtown but I didn't get there early enough to get a good view of the proceedings.
Good lord that canal is packed in the winter, still looks like a blast though. I live just 1 block from it
We are definitely going to do some east coast trips now that we live here. I've visited Montreal tons while my husband went to school there and I've been to Quebec city twice but never to ANY of the east coast provinces, it saddens me as well.
I friend told me all about ZB's before I left, so its definitely on the list.
Didn't know about that deli though! But, we are going to Montreal this weekend so I can get my schartz' fix.
The little Italy here is definitely cute but I am also all upons Chinatown here, I have never EVER seen this many pho joints in one place, not even in Vancouver, its pho-central.
Our apartment is in The Glebe which is a super nice, although somewhat tame for my taste, neighborhood.
Thanks for thinking of me moot! :D

if you do go to nb, saint john is hands down the best place to base your trip out of. it's a pretty scenic city, and the surrounding area is beautiful. it is an industrial city, though, and i wouldn't suggest venturing out out further than the boardwalk at night, unless you're with a local (and if you're a girl, don't go outside alone at night, as it's the second highest for sexual assault per capita in canada). the chances of getting jumped are zero, unless you wander around alone at night, or pull any shit at a pub or bar. saint john and area has all of the best parts of nb wrapped in around it, so it is the place to be if you want to check out the province. pei is another must-see if you're heading to the maritimes, too.

Great description, good call for throwing PEI in the mix too.
I haven't heard tell of Schwartz' in a dogs age, great smoked meat, gotta order their homemade pickles as a side.
not to turn anyone off of checking it out, but better to be informed, than not.
@Heiress - the war museum is excellent, and pretty powerful. definitely worth the money to go check it out; i go every time i'm in ottawa. i definitely suggest checking out nb, pei, and cape breton if you're heading out east. if you're going on a long enough road trip, driving to st. john's via the port aux basque ferry to nfld is a must (it forces you to drive the whole way across the island, so you can check out gros morne, and drive through the mountains just outside of port aux basque (although being from bc, i imagine you've seen your share of mountains)). nfld is beautiful, and st. john's is an awesome party town.
now this is saint john (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC7irNxxs5I)!
thanks like2_drink for the vid, i don't think anything could capture that place better.
