seems to me relationships that involve kids or dogs have a good chance at lasting, relationships that involve cats only don't.

My pessimistic sense of humour would love to see this thread stay empty because of the name of it alone.

I have a dog that I got while my ex and I were dating. I don't like him to see her anymore because as far as he's concerned she isn't part of the pack anymore, it only confuses him when he sees her + she doesn't have to see how much he misses her when she goes.

yea this was one of those drinking at the bar with two guys going through break ups and they are both cat people.

Drinking and posting never really works out for me. I am amazed that I have not been kicked of the BBMB already for irresponsible posting.

Single men should not own a cat.
It's just weird.

Single men should own dogs.

i get the whole mans best friend thing but i dont see the issue with cats. not sure its worth getting your testicles out to protest at.

for a start they are lot less maintenance than a dog, less work for a single man to do.

plus what if a relationship ended and HE got the cat.

I personally would have no pets if i was single. I have a wife two kids a dog and two cats.

My dude loves my cats. They are special though, very interactive and hilarious...not snobby or gross like some cats. They run to the door when you get home like dogs, but we dont have to take them outside or give them baths.

My boyfriend and I have a cat together, and he loves him. Like Dorothy's cats, ours is very interactive - super friendly, very curious, lots of personality.

We chose getting a cat because it's easier to find a place to live in the inner city, and cats require less maintenance. If we had a dog we wouldn't be able to enjoy the type of lifestyle we're aiming for.

Cats and dogs are equally awesome.

So... these doomed cat relationships I speak of, one is 6 years in and the other 9 years in of marriage plus dating. Cats don't need the same type of commitment as a dog, or a child. The joint commitment holds the relationship together when in trouble. I know good long term cat relationships, but odds are not as good with kids or dogs involved. Fuck if I know for sure.

I find a common interest in beer or booze tends to make relationships work more often.

The grinding, brewing and drinking of.... accompanied by turtles flown in from California, of course. :D

:D

Yup, if a couple has a morning ritual that includes drinking coffee, that helps too.

But going out for beers or margaritas? Score.
