You may already be aware of it - but fugazi has board tapes from every one of their performances -
http://www.dischord.com/fugazi_live_series

They are available for download for $1 or more each ( you decide what you want to pay) or $500 to download them all.

I would love to see the Beastie Boys do something like this. Alhough there are many great sounding audience recordings - to have 100s of board tapes available would be unfathomable. Those fugazi fans must be loving it.

as a kid I always thought dischord was part inspiration for grand royal. I think I may have read that was the case.

MSG May 1995!!!! Someday I hope to hear this show again. I am confident that they kept this recording as they said it was their best show to date.

They came out and performed with Run DMC for their encore of Walk This Way for the New Orleans show I went to on the Together Forever tour.

I would gladly sign up for this kind of deal, whether it be priced per show, subscription, or "all access".

Beasties would package this with the Horseplay DVD and charge $999.....and half of you would get 3 copies of it.

Since they are digital downloads I would only need one copy. And if there were 800 shows in the package (like the Fugazi deal) that would be $1.25 per show. Assuming there was an average of 15 tracks per show that would be less than 9 cents per live track (recorded from the soundboard). So yeah... I'm down for that.

There would be significant differences between Dischord's approach and Crapitol's to something like this.

I would love to download the Reading 98 show (the actual one not the one that is floating around purporting to be it). MMM was new but actually nailed every single part of the performance (seriously not a weak spot from Tom Sawyer onwards) and the crowd was massive. Opened with The Move, Slow and Low in particular features the 'Yes You May (Remix)' beat and it owns.

I recorded it off the radio years ago and lost the tape. Would happily pay for another copy. :)
