How are they viewed in American, if indeed they have even made the slightest splash over there wether it be record sales, respectability, radio airplay etc
The Jam
Paul Weller solo
Blur
Oasis
Stone Roses
The Fall
The Smiths
Joy Division
Also how is UK music viewed as a whole over in the USA?

we've been here before havent we?
anyway, cant imagine the fall making much sense across the pond, they didnt make much sense anyway!! i didnt mind their stuff but i dont think there was that much to it. although i suppose bands like the pixies and maybe even nirvana nod towards that direction
the stone roses didnt even really break it here, they blew it , even Ian Brown admits that.
oasis could have done it (well they sort of did) but liam was too coked up and full of himself at a crucial time. I think the us prefers their rock stars with a touch of humility and not "I'm great and who the fuck are you".
the jam - some songs were too british for me - eton rifles and thats entertainment were about british culture
joy division - what might have been, lead singer hung himself two days before there first US gigs. Bono has commented before that U2 felt like they were in JD's shadow.
