I posted this in the non beastie section on accident and someone told me to move it here for some answers

So I got that book for Xmas and the first page says "dear John not really up your alley but still cool musicians" and is signed off by Ari Marcopoulus with a copyright symbol written in march 2002 and it's signed off with a thin tipped sharpie indented into the paper not reprinted. I got this shit from barnes n noble it was a used copy. What do y'all think of this?

Any feedback would be cool cause that's pretty odd. I know Ari was their photographer for book so it's kinda weird to stumble upon like that.

A dear John letter is a divorce note and obviously it wasn't up his alley since he sold it used on B&N.com:rolleyes:
I hope that your John is someone worth noting, but it sounds more like it was one of Ari's business 'friends', say a lawyer, account, gallery owner or someone he felt he had to give a gift to, but didn't want to spend money on... thus a free copy of his book, that he knew they really wouldn't care for and would eventually sell used.

Hm well I was just like hey whos John... hahaha.

I guess it's pretty neat right? I thought it was kinda funny to stumble across that.

Yes, it's cool you have an Ari book signed by Ari.

Yes, it's cool you have an Ari book signed by Ari.

The fact that it says "this might not be up your alley" sucks though.
I figured people were gonna laugh at me for this post lol
