I really need to minimize my collection, most of my cd's are now ripped to my pc and I can put on my zune. My vinyl collection is 95% dj material and I really don't spin anymore.
what to do!?!?
has anyone else cleared out their music collections?
It's all collecting dust...
sell on discogs and make into clocks. are my current solutions.
Everyone is getting clocks right now even though no one really needs clocks anymore.

What DJ records do you have?
Also, make sure you're ripping using a lossless format. I know too many people who ripped a bunch of CDs to MP3s and had no clue they were degrading their sound qaulity of everything.

I have a shit ton of house, techno, jungle. A bunch of triphop/abstract/battle
3 technics 1200s, a nice denon 2 channel mixer that was discontinued though...
I'd have at least 5 to 6 crates more but had to liquidate before my move 6 years ago.
here's a pic of my last setup - not all my records/cds are shown in the pic

Any sort of "off the beaten path" scratch/break records? What about hip hop records? I might be interested in some of that stuff. I wouldn't want to buy bulk though. I've got 3 expedite bookcases full as it is.

I have backsliding turkey cuts, some rectangle records, some secret squirrel, and some other tones and breaks shit - but I assure you, being battle records they have been well beaten.
the hip hop i have is mostly underground, some pretty cool shit, some classics. I have yet to do the "sorting" of what to keep and what to can. I know that my current collection is pretty much the prime keeps from my previous sort a few years ago.

keep your vinyl and put all the cd's on a few spindles

yeah but the vinyl is deadweight and converting it to digital is a pain, i could probably shave off 2 to 3 crates of stuff I'm not into anymore.
my cd's are nicely stacked in their cases. If I keep the cds I'm going to keep the cases/liner notes
