I checked my favourite web comics, today (SMBC and xkcd), and there were no comics, just splashes about how horrible and shit it is (which it seems like).

What do you yanks think about it?

I think I'd rather not have government-sanctioned information police.

Even though I generally consume my media in a legal manner.

Pay actors $25 million instead of $50 million, and make better movies.

I've been following this for about a year now, have had a popup on my site (http://beastiemixes.com) for the last month warning people that it was now coming down to the wire, and participated in the blackout, redirecting every page on the site to this page (http://beastiemixes.com/sopa.php). I'm the poster hipster anti-SOPA cheerleader. I was against it before it was cool. ;)

Really happy with the way things have turned out so far, but this is a long way from over. They will try and sneak this legislation in some way or another, possibly riding along with something else. Money will continue to change hands, people's votes will continue to be bought.

This http://www.techdirt.com is one of the sites I've read daily for the longest time to keep me up on what's going on in the area of IP law, and internet issues with it.

If you really don't know what to make of all of this, and you have 4 minutes to spare, this video (http://vimeo.com/31100268) does a good job explaining what the deal is.

Well, loads of videos on You Tube and MTV (and other TV companies) have been blocked for people outside US for ages... Just sayin'

Would you really want to piss off ALL the hackers at the same time?

I have seen the thing that silence7 put up and i didnt realise some of the possibilities. Its heavy shit.

I wasn't really sure what to think of it all. I mean in the internet age a lot of companies lose money because it's easy to steal content. Yet a lot of the innocents will be caught in the cross fire and I don't want to see those sites go down. So anyway I signed the petition against it. Although we have come to depend on the internet for everything, I mean everything. It wouldn't be the end of the world for me because it's just one of those things that you have to go with the flow with. So whatever happens happens.

There are a lot of supporters though. Walmart, Sony, CBS, NBC, Nike and so on....

it's a tangled web the media/industry as a whole has contributed to

without accessibility some artists never get the hype, the viral marketing for movies and other things, instant gratification for fans...this is chilling because it goes against the "inter-connectedness" that the media is trying to sell.

It even looks like it would destroy the concept of "The Cloud" which is still wavering in favor.
