View Full Version : Do you guys want an update?

Or - is it even any of our business?

I mean no disrespect to the privacy of the group (and privacy is something I have championed for in the past, I know), as I am just one selfish little fan who is hoping things are good, or at least ok.

To answer my first question (because we all love it when some fuckwit interviews himself, right?) I kinda do want an update. Not just to hear good or bad news, but just to know how things are tracking. We were let into a very weird situation when the original youtube clip went up, and I suppose it's hard to completely disconnect from that.

On the second point, it's probably not any of my business, hence no updates and that's more than fine.

I only wonder because I kinda care, as do many people, I'm fairly sure. It's not like we're dealing with actual vacuous celebrities; these guys have a pretty rare humanity, so it's hard not to begin wondering about updates and shit like that out of a reasonably natural sort of concern.

By way of disclaimer - I don't expect this thread to spark an update. This isn't an attempt to strongarm some communications out of the group; I just want to know if other people are feeling like they want an update, and whether they consider it to be anybody's business other than those in the inner circle.

If things are quiet I will just assume that no news is good news and - as someone astutely said in another thread - things could be good and they just don't want to jinx it. Also, it is kinda cool being in the dark and letting your mind wander at the possibilities.

I've probably committed board suicide, right here, with this here thread. Sending positive energy and thoughts to MCA in any case.

i think its pretty obvious we all would like to know how Yauch is doing, health wise...But there's a reason why they haven't given an update, whether its because they don't have time, haven't gotten to it, or maybe they are waiting for the right time... i mean we will know for sure by April right? haha:cool:
Would we LOVE an update on the band & Yauchs health...Yes..
Should we pressure them to give an update...No
we know by now that the Beastie's will do whatever they want, whenever they want..right?! Just keep thinkin' positive folks.

I think an update would be a huge relief. Good God for me it least, Ms. worry WART....Something along the lines of his last post like "I am doing well but still in treatment. Thanks for the support." Bam that's it, moving on! And I know for a fact many other fans are stressed but they don't vocalize it the way I always do. What can I say, I wear my heart on my sleeve. It would be nice just to know something even if it's small. Being left in the dark is the worst for me because I always think the worst unfortunately.

In an opinion from another fan who doesn't post here, she told me Yauch probably didn't want to worry anybody so he's just staying reclusive and handling his business. Understandable. It would be like him to do that and not worry the fans, but really it's doing the opposite lol. So for the sake of easing everybody's minds good or bad I just wanna know. :(

If you recall when Yauch thought he was clear he announced that in an interview while in Italy......and then things went quiet again until Mike thankfully messed up in an interview and we got that second statement. :/ :/

Tour dates and trophy's at award ceremonies don't mean anything if you only have two. We need three healthy Beasties. And if things really are okay then I hope the message gets to the band so they can say "Yeah ya'll are stressing over nothing, chill out."

I would love an update and I feel the same as Joe, but I'm also in the camp of "no news is good news".

I would like an update to,but this is just what i think but i have a feeling that they are gonna announce something big at the rrhof,im hoping for some great news like hscp1 on its way out and then a huge tour to celebrate MCA being healthy again or how cool would it be if they realeased a box set of hscp1&2 at the same time with a ton of extra stuff.thats what im hoping for.

On the other hand, we recently saw adrock ... if MCA's health was really bad, I don't think he would feel like hanging out and playing music...so I guess Yauch is just still recovering, also he's not twenty anymore, so it just takes time...I believe he will be fine, but the idea of never touring again ever is also a possibility according to me, or maybe just some little shows here and there, you got to be in a freaking good health to do a tour as they used to do...and it's really hard to get back to your good "old" health after a cancer, even if you have recovered...so I don't know...
Nonetheless..I am pretty sure we will see more and more Yauch directing videos , making music which would be awesome too...

I don't want an update and I don't think it is necessary. It's not related to the Beastie Boys in an artistic sense, and ultimately, as much as I admire the band as the individuals I perceive, any personal issues should remain just that. Like everyone else on here though, I hope Yauch is doing okay.

Of course I would like an update, but in the end it's none of my business.

If the goal is for positive thoughts, than a negative update will only create more negative thoughts. It would plant the seed in our head that things are not good.

I like the idea of no news is good news.

I think the fact that Yauch took the time to tell us what cancer he had and what was going to happen with him should show that he does care about involving the fans to some degree. He didn’t have to make that video. He could have had the band’s publicist release a statement. My hopeful theory is that he just doesn’t want to announce anything till he’s sure, so he doesn’t have to deal with the media misinterpreting anything. So no it’s none of our business what he’s doing to treat himself. I totally agree with that. However I think it is a good thing when the fans show their support. Threads like this is one example. I really think he appreciates it when he sees it. :p
