I wanted to start a topic on Mitt Romney for multiple reasons.
I'll start with one -
Do you think having somebody more conservative in office will be helpful?
nobody's going to do your homework for you

Only a fiscal conservative would be helpful. Romney is a social conservative masquerading as a fiscal conservative, which means he'll waste a whole bunch of time and money trying to tell people how to live their lives while handing money over his shoulder to corporate interests.
So no, Romney would not be "good for us".

The social conservative tag is a scare tactic and will be used against any republican candidate no matter how moderate they are. I guarantee you that the Democrats would rather have Santorum running because they will tear his social conservatism apart. Romney has a record of being quite a bit more moderate depending on the issue. But Romney, or anyone on the right, does not have the political power or charisma beat Obama.

I don't know. There is something about Mitt that I don't like. I guess he just looks too polished and his smile looks fake to me. I need to read up more on his beliefs/policies but so far from what I have heard I don't like them.

that's true, Romney 10 years ago was moderate. Now he's...hmm, what is he...a robot? I don't know, he went from being a dorky rich guy to a full on creep. He went overboard trying to woo evangelicals to make up for being mormon I guess. Not that I have a problem with mormons, but fundamentalist Christians do.
The fact is, they're all ripping each other down in this primary, nobody actually likes Romney that much. He's just out of touch.

Romney will say whatever gets him the most votes. Plain and simple. He has flipped his stance on many issues. He also has the backing of the GOP establishment.
If he does become the next president, I don't think there would be much of a change from the Obama administration.

For all their talk about religion, Republicans sure lie a lot.

All politicians lie, yes even Democrats. Politics is partially about lying just to get the votes.
Obama officially professes himself to be a Christian as well. In 2008, he said "I've been to the same church, the same Christian church, for almost 20 years. I was sworn in with my hand on the family Bible. Whenever I'm in the United States Senate, I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America."
Here's the "Obameter." Pobody's nerfect in politics. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/obameter/

Hm, im not really sure why you felt it was necessary to make that statement towards me.. that isnt what I asked for I wanted a general discussion about it just like the rest of this section. I felt it would be good for me to take more interest in politics at my age, being able to vote I want to make sure my vote is given to the right candidate.
Well, I truly believe that Obama is going to win again (god help us.) it just kind of concerns me that either way if it ends up being Romney vs. Obama I feel like nothing will get done. We need someone in office who will go to good lengths to get us out of the fucking shitter. Obamas charisma is a load of shit in my opinion, watching him talk frustrates me because behind anything he says was zero progress while he was in office. I absolutely agree that he will do whatever for votes.. but it makes me look like a hypocrite then when I say Ron Paul should run (pipe dream) because he only chose to run republican to have a better chance to even run considering the independent party is never taken as serious as the democratic and republican party's. Its almost like a cut throat race at this point.. in my eyes its rather than which one will do better, its which one will fail more. Romney is just a bullshitter, hes stubborn and bias.
To finish, I never think politics should be mixed with religion in a debate.

There are three branches of government with equal power. The president doesn't control the direction of the country entirely, and definitely has little control over individuals. Blaming Obama for the state of the nation is scapegoating. I think voting in a current republican candidate would show that a majority of our citizens put blind trust into mythology. And that they favor money and greed over compassion, so they're fine with corporate fascism and turning America into a 3rd world country with underpaid workers and dangerous conditions, slums, and high crime. They like the crime part, they can throw them in jail in private prisons, and the private prisoners can do the labor for free, to make a profit for the prison owners. Kinda like slavery...almost exactly like slavery.
Luckily, I think there are enough progressives in the country to overcome this sort of thing no matter who the president is...though its a harder fight when cruelty is celebrated by the right wing.
