I'm hooked on repetition when I wake up.
Been eating an everything bagel with a huge schmear of cream cheese and a cup of key lime yogurt every morning this year.
It's pretty dang tasty and seems to keep me going for 5 to 6 hours.
Last year it was eggs and toast.
What do you eat for breakfast?

I was really way to passionate about poptarts...
But now I'm all about bacon and eggs some mornins, considering bacon is pretty bad for you though I like a medley of fruit (green apple, red apple, bananas and grapes!) or peach yoplait with peaches on the bottom (:
Good thread idea!

Well it verys day to day...usually strawberry yogurt with chia or giant orange slices or Quaker oatmeal or a croissant...weekends are a different scenario...if shes around, maybe a spanish tortilla or crepes or eggs benedict or french toast or waffles or bagel, dill cream cheese and dark smoked lox...if shes not around and I was carousing the previous night it may just end up a whores breaky of coffee, cigarettes and a bowl of wake and bake...

Bran flakes or plain shredded wheat cereal
Or sometimes yogurt or nothing instead
Or toast with butter or jelly and orange juice

Oatmeal!
Yesss, I mix in a cup of applesauce with it
I have bran flakes and 1L of coffee.
Then an hour later...

...just don't use the toilet for 30 minutes is what I'm saying.
Yesss, I mix in a cup of applesauce with it
I spread the applesauce on top.

if i'm short on time, a smoothie with a banana, frozen berries, protein powder, almond milk, etc.
i woke up my then-fiance with waffles and batman comics on his birthday.

Can't cope with breakfast - it generally makes me feel queasy, like a feeling akin to being seasick. No, I don't understand why either.
Funnily enough, when I get on a boat I can't get the taste of bacon and eggs out of my mouth.

tsk tsk!
I make amazing home-made granola which normally includes: oats, spelt flakes, quinoa, sliced almonds, chia or hemp seeds and then I add dried apricots or cranberries afterwards. I have that with plain 3.8% balkan style yoghurt.
If we`ve baked a fresh loaf of sourdough (we even use our own sourdough culture) then ill have that with almond or peanut butter and jam (organic).
I also enjoy oatmeal with peanut butter and cocoa powder on super cold winter days.
In the summer time we eat a lot of home-made muesli that we make ourselves and then soak overnight in almond or coconut milk. It`s nice having a super cold and chilly breaky in the hot months.
With everything I have stovetop espresso made with organic cream and coconut nectar as sweetener.
Weekends its all about my husbands amazing poached eggs (drop in water style) and toast.
Then he makes up lattes using an espresso machine from like 1989 that his uncle passed on to him, it looks hideous but it pulls quite yummy shots!
If Im in charge then its my super fluffy puffy pancakes, maple syrup from Quebec and sausages.
If you ask nicely I`ll give you my secret recipe.

My mom had to go gluten-free (doctor's orders), and she urged me to give it a try because I am developing similar issues. So far so good, I just keep eating delicious tamales and losing weight in the process.
so, yes, I sometimes eat a green chile and cheese tamale for breakfast with juice or water. I get a coffee or energy drink when I get to work.
But THE BEST thing about trying gluten free is discovering Trader Joe's gluten-free french rolls. They're dense round little rolls that taste dry and terrible until you heat them and they magically become the most delicious thing ever. I slice them in half and put them in the toaster oven with jalapeno yogurt cheese, then slice a hard-boiled egg and put it all together in a sandwich. It tastes so good, I can't get over it.
Today, I added sliced avocado! and sometimes I just toast the roll, spread Earth Balance on, then place avocado and tomatillo slices atop! sprinkled with Southwest Chipotle Mrs. Dash.
Even if I get bloodwork back that says I'm not gluten intolerant, I'm still gonna eat these bitches!
I usually try to eat a vegetable too. Like today, I just had some raw broccoli while waiting for the toasting to be done.

If i get chance to have something at home, I'll chuck a bowl of cheerios down me neck. If i have to wait till i get to work, I'll either have a sausage buttie, some cheese on toast or fruit salad depending on whats in and how fat i'm feeling

Surely it's better for you to eat them? At least then you won't have to change your shirt before you leave the house, which would probably free up some time for you to have a cooked breakfast.

Am amazed at how many people seem to have 'proper' breakfasts! I get a bagel and a coffee with a drip of milk at the coffee shop across from the office and eat at my desk, so I eat latish at around 9am but that's fine as it means I get an extra 10mins or so in bed! Weekends, cereal or poached eggs.

I love eating and/or talking about food!
Cheerios + peanut butter and jelly sandwich+ Greek style yogurt + fruit of some kind + coffee. That usually ties me over for three hours then the ravenous hunger returns

if i can be arsed all i need in the morning is a slice of wholemeal bread toasted with some proper organic non full of bullshit peanut butter. that will keep you going for aaaaages.
i should probably make more effort eating a nice breakfast but i rarely do. the above, or natural yoghurt with muesli, is the most i can manage.
at weekends it's a different story... i'm the best at hot breakfasts, oh yeah.
airesse, pretty please let me in on your recipe! i saw the pics on facebook a while ago (i am assuming they are yours and not a cafe?) and was so so jealous... i'd LOVE to make them! the only pancakes i can make are the scotch variety...

Not a cafes, better than a cafes!
Fluffy Puffy Pancakes
3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 egg
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine the milk and vinegar in a small bowl and let it sit for 10 minutes to "sour"
Prepare the other ingredients while you wait.
Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl.
In the bowl with the soured milk slowly add the melted butter and the whisked eggs.
Pour wet into the dry ingredients and whisk until most of the lumps are gone, but don't over beat.
Once all the ingredients are mixed, let the batter sit for an additional 10 minutes. This lets the soured milk and leavening ages work their bubble-producing magic.
Cook these pancakes for a bit longer than normal (due to their height)
And be careful when flipping, otherwise you will flatten out all their lovely puffiness! I try to make somewhat small pancakes just to make flipping them as easy as possible.

Once or twice a week I have to get me a little thing called ji dan bing.
It's a local street food I've become addicted to. Only available in the mornings - you never see it offered after about 10 am. It's a sort of crepe made by spreading out the crepe batter really thinly, then breaking an egg on it and smearing that around to cook. Then chuck on a handful of shopped garlic, coriander, and if you like it yi diandian la (a little spicy), a schmear of chili sauce. After that part of the crepe is folder over, a good dollop of plum sauce is plopped on and either a crunchy wafer-like thing or a chewy cruller-like thing (your choice - I always go for crunchy) is laid on the fold. The rest of the crepe is folded around that, then cut in half, dropped into a bag and handed over. This all takes place in about 40 seconds. There are some nice little vids on YouTube where you can watch it done if you fancy.
It's awesome. It's crunchy, chewy, spicy, sweet and salty all at once. And it costs 3.5 yuan, which is like 35p (or 55 cents).
Seriously people, if you've got a Chinatown in your city, go have a look around breakfast time and see if you see any place selling these. You'll thank me for it, I promise.

Love this thread. It's good people have come back to post more often now, I'm enjoying catching up.:)
I get the whole repetition with breakfast thing too: my top breakfast is currently porridge (oatmeal to you US/Canadians, I think)--cup of oats, skim milk topped with that ground nut stuff (Cosmo will know proper name) that supposedly adds protein and omega oils, plus low sugar jam. I LOVE it, not least bc it fills my belly and sorts my hypo-glycemic blood for a good few hours.
That's for just me, but at the weekends we eat as a family and occasionally have the mostly full English: fried eggs, bacon or sausages and a slice of toast with a giant glass of OJ. My husband does the cooking on these occasions, making the food super great.
I love poached eggs too, but it's usually for lunch.
I have made a note of the pancakes recipe Heiress, will try it out soon. I think I'd like breakfast at yous :D
Peachy, that pancake thing sounds amazing, but I don't think I could have so much spice first thing!

I was stealing plums form over the fence for a while, but I had to give that up. I mostly have absolutely nothing for breakfast, except a cup of tea if it's cold.
Heiress, that looks really delicious though. I love blackberries.
