Like many have posted, this is my first time back to the board in a long time. I felt it was necessary for me to come back today because the Beastie Boys were such a huge part of my life. I woke up for work last night around 10pm and turned on my computer to see the Beastie Boys were trending on Yahoo. I kinda got excited because I thought it was gonna be some good news like Adam was better and maybe a tour or something was in the making. When I clicked on the link, It felt like I got punched in the stomach unexpectedly. The whole night at work sucked. Nothing but Beasties on my iPod all night and kept saying to myself "Damn, this sucks". I felt like I lost someone really close to me. I had. The Beastie Boys WERE my life at one time.
The Beastie Boys gave me so many memories. My favorite concert moments were from Beastie shows. I remember hearing "Fight For Your Right" for the first time on the radio. I got the album and fell in love. I made my mom take me to a Madonna concert just so I can see them open for her. Run DMC was there too. So many great shows I saw. Mostly in Philly like the Civic Center, the suprise show they did at the Electric Factory, the shows at the Wells Fargo Center, all the shows when my friends and I took the train from Philly to NY to see them at MSG and the Hammerstein, the time we went and saw them in DC, and my all time favorite at the Trocadero in Philly for the Check You Head tour. OMG what a show. Adrock stagediving off the speaker into the crowd. Lollapalooza at FDR Park in Philly....I made it to the stage and Adrock slapped me a high five after I blew a hit of dust in his face. Seeing them at the Festival Pier and then the next night for the Gala at the Borgata in AC. I'll never forget those times. Shaking my head as I write this knowing I'll never experience their shows ever again.
I guess what I'm trying to say is Thank You Beastie Boys for being in my life. My heart goes out to the Yauch family, Adrock and Mike D, and to all of his fans.....he's coming home.
Rest In Peace Adam Yauch
