Cool was about to post this myself. I really like the one set in FFYR with Cyclops and Wolvie, but it annoys me that Wolverine is drawn as so much bigger than MCA. Wolverine is only 5'2. The artist nails the character of both Logan and Yauch, so good on him for that.

http://popgurls.com/2012/05/16/gratitude/ -- A great tribute from a female fan
http://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2012/05/16/get-it-together-on-mourning-adam-yauch/
I realized we werent just mourning Adam Yauch. As many would agree, weve been mourning our memories. Mourning an adolescence that seemed to get over on fifteen years of adulthood, from Def Jam to Grand Royal. Mourning how a record once could finish your thought, and how much that thought would cost once the lawyers realized it belonged to someone else. (The Beasties were sued for copyright infringement the day before Yauch passed.) Mourning all the goofball references and the passing of those references. Mourning the brilliantly lame Dick Butkus joke. Mourning Got more ___ than ___ got ___. Mourning my tattered Live at the Fever T-shirt that I saw Adrock wearing in the woods in the video for So Watcha Want. (Might as well mourn the Live at the Disco Fever twelve-inch and the famous Bronx hip-hop club itself, while were at it.) Mourning magazines that came with cardboard Miami booty jeeps in the center. Mourning once being able to write ten thousand words on South Florida Bass for said magazine and being sent to cover strip clubs in Atlanta with Lil Jon while Yauch was in India with the Dalai Lama. Mourning the file cabinet and Yauchs two-foot bong chucked out of a three-story window by Grand Royal editor Bob Mack. Mourning all the memory loss from all those times spent, er, listening, to Check Your Head. Mourning all the woofers blown from the 808 low end of Hello Brooklyn. Mourning how we felt when the video for Intergalactic, which was directed by Yauch, reminded us of coming home from school to watch Ultraman kick the crap out of a giant radioactive artichoke. Mourning a time when you never considered how one day youd be mourning the Beastie Boys. Mourning can be a pretty narcissistic act, it turns out.

terrible. plus they're rapping over the track. go home!
Hey hang on, they did it proud there! No one can ever do that song like the BB's and Cee Lo knows that and won't overstep the mark. Also, you have to keep in mind that millions of people watching this show will only be familiar with this one Beastie record. And it is a classic record loved by all who hear it. (I would bet that even people who hate hip hop in general will turn up their radio when 'Fight for your right to party' comes on.)
Very telling that all these musical tributes are being performed by black artists paying respect to a white artist. I mean, has that even ever happened before in the old US of A??!!!
MCA Adam Yauch was a well respected man!!

In the most simple way I feel he's around like when I look at the sky or a breeze goes through me while I am jogging in the mornings. Could be just my mind's way of coping, or some mediums say that when you experience these things it really is the person who passed because they feel your energy channeling them to you. I know a lot of people don't believe in the supernatural but I sure do and it's definitely helped me through all of this with Adam.

Hi my name is John E.Q I'm a half-human from the future who came back in time because there are too many good drummers in my era.
This is my first installment of covers that i hope will continue to grow. This is one of the Beastie Boys fiercer tracks and i think it really drives along. It is my tribute to MCA.

That's great! I know what you're saying about that breeze(y)
I felt a special energy last week and I had an awesome dream with MCA, we were sitting side by side and I bent over him to put my arms around him to gently hug him , I felt a huge amount of affection, no fear, no sadness.
This week is different, like every moment is, THANK YOU MCA and LOVE YOU ALL.
I am so glad you such a positive dream. I am sure it made you feel a hell of a lot better. thanks for sharing.
I hope a year from now and years from now we're still discussing this great man and the Beasties. I just don't want it to go away.

I'm not too sure if this video from a recent NYTimes has made it here or not, it's called the "Sweet Spot" and it's film critic A. O. Scott and media watcher David Carr, examining the recent deaths of Donna Summer, Adam Yauch, Robin Gibb, Levon Helm, Whitney Houston.
Really touching and Adam is represented quite nicely by rock critic Jon Caramanica around the 2:30 minute mark.

I've had a little DJ slot on Shoreditch High Street in London for about 6 months or so and I managed to work my little Yauch tribute in there on Friday.
I wore my green '5 Boroughs' t-shirt and played Freaky Hijiki, 14th St Break, Non-Stop Disco Power Pack and the Mario C remix of Sure Shot. I had the Root down EP with me and would have played the regular version if I'd got a response to any of the other tracks.
Still really gutted and deflated.(n):(:o

I went to Slam Dunk festival yesterday, Cancer Bats were playing and I was sure they'd do their Sabotage cover. I got myself a nice spot and waited. They came on and opened their set with Sabotage, Liam shouted out 5 words, "this one's for Adam Yauch". Made my day. Seeing them playing that song and the reaction from people helped me put my sadness to bed.

French music act M83 just released the video treatment for Reunion, the second single from 2011′s Hurry Up, Were Dreaming. The video picks up the story from the first singles music video, Midnight City, featuring a gang of kids with superpowers that turn their eyes blue and toss Chevy Tahoes like rag dolls.
The upbeat song combined with dramatic visuals is entrancing enough that youll probably miss the subtle MCA tribute the band carefully placed. At around the 46-second mark, a Nokia GPS device can be seen indicating the cars are traveling down "Adam Yauch Ave.

Rapper Chris Brown dedicates his new video "Till I Die," featuring Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa, to Adam Yauch:
Directed by Breezy himself, and dedicated to the late Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, the clip stars the rap young guns emulating the Beasties' off the wall approach to music videos alongside elderstatesmen Snoop Dogg, Method Man and Redman. Andy Milonakis and Jamie Kennedy are in there somewhere, too.

I haven't seen this listed but Alamo Drafthouse in Austin had a Beastie Boys Rap-A-Long (they have done a few previously, they also do sing-a-longs, movie quote-a-longs etc.) a week or so after MCA passed where all ticket sales went to the American Cancer Society. There was also a link where you could donate, which I did, but didn't attend, it was just too soon for me. I did like the concept though.
I used to joke that no matter how mad or sad I was anyone could turn on Beastie Boys and it was instant happiness for me. I can't wait for that to be true again.
I want to say thank you to everyone that has been posting on this board. The first week or so after MCA passed I really felt that no one truly understood how much his death has affected me and then I came back here and instantly felt like I was surrounded by people who were feeling the same things I was and I wasn't alone. Y'all are all awesome!

I was very critical of Chris Brown previously. keep in mind he is about the age Yauch was when he was tearing shit up back in the License to Ill days.. And Chris brown is the age where (many) of us were doing crazy shit too, stuff we may not be proud of. I know i've done SOME CRAZY SHIT, dirty, mean, disrespectful.
I wish I'd been doing it before, but i hope all of us, if only out of respect and love for our man MCA, start being more forgiving of people, more understanding, and not add to the negative energy fo the world by judging people to harshly. Since Yauch's passing, it's been on the forefront of my behavior-being kind, every word and action we take has an effect on our lives and the world.

Anyone know who's taken that photo of Yauch and Dalai Lama (http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-grrrlie/7168751758/in/set-72157603690456074/)? I was approached by a buddhist magazine on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/b-grrrlie/) and they want to use that pic. They found it amongst my collected pics of MCA, I think they believe I've taken the photo... :o but I wanna give credit to whom its due.

Didn't see this one here: Elton John dedicates a tune to Yauch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIbi01hhMLY). Sure he pronounces his name wrong, but what the hell. Nice move, Sir Elton.
I hadn't seen this before and I can take or leave Elton John but for some reason this really moved me. "Travel well my friend." Agreed, nice move Sir Elton (y)

Yelawolf paid tribute to Adam Yauch with a three-song Beastie Boys medley during his Bonnaroo set yesterday (June 7th). Here's an interview with him about the tribute:
http://www.fuse.tv/2012/06/yelawolf-talks-his-mca-tribute-at-bonnaroo-2012
But the best part came with a dedication to the Beastie Boys: a medley of "Fight For Your Right," "Brass Monkey," "Intergalactic," and "Paul Revere" that found Yela doing a loving impression of MCA and the others while the audience chanted the name of the recently deceased rapper.

"A ships wake does not dictate it's course."
I know, it's just that this song/video is pretty much the exact opposite of what Adam and the Beasties are all about now, it comes across more like a parody or a joke than a tribute. Then again, as much as I don't believe him when he says it is a tribute, and as much as I dislike it and think it's disrespectful, maybe, MAYBE in his mind it was the right thing to do and it IS a real, heartfelt tribute. But even then, t's confusing and just... uncomfortable. =/

Working with the Beastie Boys was an amazing experience, most importantly because I formed some very valuable friendships with those guys. They're role models to me all around. I've loved them since I was 11. I was so inspired by them, saying I wanted to be in the girl-Beastie Boys. They're so down to earth, real, grounded people. To tour with them [and] we were together at [President Barack Obama's] inauguration, even recording the song and hanging out in the studio for a couple days, I had some really great experiences with those guys. Any opportunity I have to work with them, I love to do.
With MCA, I don't really like to talk about it. He was really special, someone you connect with instantly. So open, inviting, immediately accessible and friendly. He was the first one I had a relationship with beyond music, inviting me to places, making sure I had my inauguration tickets. He was the warmest, friendliest dude. It's such a great loss. lt really hurts my heart.

Lot of stuff in magazine...
*There's a 3 pages article about Yauch in the last Q mag.
*A double page portait (pic) in the new Wax Poetics. I think they will make something more important later, not sure.
*In France, the Tsugi mag made a special article with all their best art covers, just pics, no text.
Last bu not least, The Roots begin their show on stage with a cover of "Paul revere" Lyrics with "she's crafty" instrumental.

It is a cover. Not a very big article. It took me 2 days & five different stores before I found a copy. I haven't read the article, but it is a few pages (several pictures).

it is? I found the newest Source and it's got four dudes on the cover with a color bar background. On the inside there is the editors notes with the cover of the Beastie Boys and a small 3 page tribute. Maybe it's two different covers.

I think these are just awesome! Are they all graphic designers or what!!? I'd like to make a T-shirt of a couple of them, like
KICK IT
and
MCA, Adrock, Mike D.
Makes three
yes, aren't they!?
Really weird, about half way down the page the name under "ANOTHERDRIVEALLNIGHT" is my friend's name. He's a designer and massive BB fan. I have to check if it's his!
My fave is "it's called gratitude".

Thanks Kayleigh2012. You can hear the sadness and respect in Eminem's voice. It would be nice if Ad-Rock and Mike D can collaborate with Eminem (in the future) for a tribute to MCA.

Here's some of the interview in print
http://www.hiphopdx.com/m/index.php?s=news&id=20282
June came and went without Slaughterhouse dropping welcome to: Our House, their debut album on Eminem's Shady Records.*
In a recent interview with DJ Whoo Kid on Shade 45, Em provided a hard date for his latest signees. "The album's coming out August 28. I'm actually finishing up one of the songs for it today, as we speak."
"I rap their verses for them," joked Em. "I present it for them like, 'Yo, here's how you guys should say this, here's what you should say,' and then that's pretty much how you do it."
Eminem also spoke on the passing of the Beastie Boys' Adam "MCA" Yauch, explaining their impact on Hip Hop. "It's really sad. It's really a shame. The Beastie Boys mean so much, have always meant so much since they came out, and mean so much to Hip Hop. All three of those guys. It's really, I don't know man, it's really sad."
"When License To Ill Came Out, that shit changed rap," he added.
Em offered his condolences to the Beastie Boys, as well as Yauch's family, expressing their impact on him. "My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole group, and Adam's family, and everybody. It's just a really sad situation. Those guys and LL made me want to rap. When I saw the Beastie Boys for the first time, you know, 'Fight For Your Right to Party,' when I seen that video...it made me realize that it was possible. Just seeing that and being like, 'whoa, holy shit!' They were killin' it."

He's just ok to me. My 16 year old LOVED eminem until I pulled out my beastie CDs. It's so cool when she has her friends over hearing her blasting the boys.
He couldn't hold a candle to our any one of the beasties! Maybe a (QUICK) opening act :)

Just watching the Espys & they opened with greatest sports moments of the year- used Check it Out for the first part & put pretty good emphasis on MCA's parts (no one talking or no crowd noises). Certainly better than the Billboard AwRds did, IMO.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it! I was thinking of adding some kind of drum track to it, not sure though. It definitely hit me hard when MCA died. Still can't believe it, and I was more sad than I thought I'd be since I didn't know him, but I really liked the guys for awhile, it sucks. I'd love to hear other mca/bboys tributes too.

.............I don't know if this counts as a "tribute"; but it's worth a listen anyway.
New song by the Italian singer/songwriter and rapper Lorenzo Cherubini, (better known by the moniker Jovanotti (http://www.examiner.com/topic/jovanotti/articles)) called New York For Life, in which he gushes over his favourite American metropolis, with shout-outs to Grandmaster Flash and our own beastly boys. <3

Why anyone would leave a concert half way through when they have tickets in the VIP area is crazy but at a beastie boys concert  there's usually plenty of room there even at capacity of 20 or so people. Nice pic!
