Thought those of you in NYC who haven't heard, might want to know.

In honor of MCA:
// BEASTIE BOWL //
Plus a special Beastie Boys tribute AV performance by Eclectic Method!

Thursday, May 10
Doors at 6PM // Show at 8PM
21+
FREE
Drink Special: $5 "Brass Monkeys" (7pm-10pm)
Followed by DJ ?uestlove's Bowl Train

***

At the Bowl, when we lose one of our heroes, we like to pay them tribute.

It's time to pay tribute to MCA. And we're going to do it the best way we know how: by throwing a BEASTIE BOWL.

This Thursday, we'll screen MCA's film, "Awesome: I Fuckin' Shot That" on all our huge HD screens with full concert sound. In case you don't know about "Awesome", it's a concert film about the Beastie Boys' 2006 sold out Madison Square Garden show. And it rules.

Plus, Eclectic Method will be in the house to play a very special Beastie Boys tribute AV performance. And, after the screening, DJ ?uestlove is back for his weekly Bowl Train residency.

So come rock with us on Thursday, in honor of the one and only MCA. Then stay and boogie with ?uesto. It's a win win.

Where specifically? I had some fans ask me on twitter. Not in NYC so not sure what venue or place this is at?

Intergalactic in the crowd is heavy. Good, but heavy.

Brooklyn Bowl - 61 Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg, BK. It's a good venue. Saw another show there just a few weeks ago.

is it a new venue? and a bowling alley?

at first I thought they meant McCarren Park Pool, site of the infamous "only show they ever played in Brooklyn" a few years back.

awesome that they're doing this for free. no charge like every other event there. just love and respect to the end

in HD and full concert sound (y)

Watched this again on Sunday with the best concert sound I could fit into my 1 bedroom apt.

I'm sure this is going to sound way better, can anyone who goes ask them to turn it up loud enough so I can hear the bass from Hello Brooklyn in Cali. I'll open my window.

I don't think it's that new. They do have a bowling alley and restaurant, but don't really let that distract from the music they put on. Saw Shabazz Palaces there a few weeks back. Quest is a weekly in-house DJ. He'll probably be mixing a lot of B Boys in during his set after the screening.

I agree that the no-cover on this is a good look.

I posted a thread about this, and Fridays karaoke Beastie event at BB Kings in Times Sq. If anyone wants to meet up before, let me know, I live in Brooklyn and will be attending both events.

I heard from little birdie that this event was so awesome and full of energy tonight, full of the spirit of Adam Yauch and the Beastie Boys, and board members were present and reppin' BKLYN the best they can.

it got the full on sound treatment, something the band always insisted upon. I remember at the 34th st. premiere, they brought out sub woofers and pretty much expected every theater in the nation to do the same in order to serve it justice.

I went last night and I gotta give major props to all the Beastie fans that came out. I was really surprised when I got there that it was that crowded. I understand that Adam Yauch and the Beasties for that matter were huge inspirations but the support that came out last night was great. Eclectic Method did a 1/2 tribute mashing up some Beastie songs along with videos to those songs. Then they aired the entire AIFST flick and most people were really into it. Had to leave after they played Intergalactic b/c my old ass cant stay out after 11 PM anymore, so I dont know what ?estlove did during his DJ gig.

That's great. I read online that he was giving out trivia about MCA in between his set... Like how MCA was the first person/performer ever to stagedive on Soul Train..twice!

I know the exact performances he's talking about. I always loved watching MCA do that.
