View Full Version : A rather strange question - did Adam ever meet Peter Steele

I know that this question sounds downright confusing, and I know that those two great artists have quite opposite personalities, still I think that they'd have a lot in common to talk about.

Did Adam Yauch ever had the chance to meet with Peter Steele of Type O Negative? They both started their musical careers in the NYC hardcore scene, from where they rose to popularity. Moreover I find that "don't take it too seriously" attitude in their lyrics are quite similar, with the occasional tongue-in-cheek jokes. And they both had a lot of love to share.

And they were both from Brooklyn.

Is there any chance that they've met, maybe on a music festival or some awards ceremony (Grammy, for example)? Quite curious to find out.

On a more personal note, Peter Steele is the only other musician for whom I've longed so much after his passing. I hope that this doesn't cause me to find some non-existent similarities.

I'd imagine they had met, but I doubt they had a strong bond. Yauch was an everyday kinda person, very rooted and balanced and Peter, rest his soul, was half crazy. No disrespect, I actually love/own a lot of Type O's catalog myself no there's no lack of respect, but Peter did kinda have that wild edge to him.

Hard to say though, don't have either of them to ask... /headdesk X 100

It'd be dissing to claim that Pete wasn't that half-weirdo, half-crazy person. Still he was indeed very down to earth as well, and some friends who met him after his concert in Bulgaria (god, how I hate myself for not going), said that all the stories around the net about his kindness are true. He was indeed a very friendly person, the same way that Adam was.

I'd imagine them meeting as well, but sadly, I think that they never exchanged more than a word or two. Decided to give it a shot anyway, and ask you guys. And yes, what a sad moment that we can't ask them now. :(

I hope that someday we'll all have the chance to ask them in person, somewhere else. Though, I hope that there's a lot of time to pass before this moment.
