Not seriously warped, just enough so the needle bobs up and down. They all play fine, but I don't know if I've seen one in a while thats completely flat. Even the Hello Nasty 180 gram I bought last week new appeared to be slightly warped upon first play, immediately after taking it home from the store and playing it.

I don't keep my vinyl in sunlight, they just sit in a box in my room, side by side, the way vinyl should. Is all vinyl typically ever so slightly concave or convex, just due to changes in temperature and sitting around? Or am I just a terrible vinyl owner.

Imagine how I'm gonna fret when I've got kids.

Are you sure your deck isn't warped instead?

I agree, it seems to be a problem with your deck. Take some of your records to a friend's house and see if it still does it. If so, you'll need a new storage solution for your records.

I had this problem two years ago when I moved into an upstairs room where the air conditioning didn't get to. Some of my records are seriously fucked, to the point where I had to replace them. This is my main problem with vinyl records, it's so temperamental when it comes to heat. Hell, I bought a 7" at a show and it warped from me holding it for a couple hours. There are solutions to this problem, but it involves large panes of glass and baking your records, and I don't even wanna try it.

I hope it is my deck that would be highly relieving. If it is the vinyl I don't think ill glass and bake em, theyre not so bad that they require that.

A new storage situation rather then the cardboard box I keep them in (standing up) could be in order however.

Hey, as long as they're standing, they'll be alright. Everything else is just aesthetics.

I keep mine in plastic crates turned on their sides, but they really aren't strong enough. My summer project is to build some sturdy shelves out of wood for my records and stereo setup. It's gonna look nice, hopefully it won't be too expensive.

You would rather it was your deck? I suppose it's harder to replace some vinyl, but when the electronics went in my $1200 turntable, I would rather it have been a few dodgy records.

Depends on the deck, depends on the records :)

This is why I never collected vinyl.

Also, because I didn't have the money :(

Yes, I don't know what I'd do if all my vinyl was ruined.

ive never told anybody this because I am ashamed...

my favorite vinyl of all ... I left it in my car and now the needle jumps up ...

Fucking purchased in 1990 ... "An Exciting Evening at Home with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego"

I loved it because the B-side had a sound from the MTV "its a spring break moment," but learned to love it all quick ...

now the needle bounces because I left it in my hot summer car .... never again. My vinyl is treated like my kids ... except the time I sent Jerky Boys over seas..

so i put it under a stack of books in hopes to flatten it out..

well 9 years later its going in the right direction, but the needle still bounces...

180 gram records are prone to warping because they are thicker.

General quality of records these days are pretty poor, save for a few good pressing plants.

I have had so many problems with my 180 gram records. My copy of Alien Lanes was warped right out of the sleeve. Others have warped from small temperature changes. 180 gram is not a buying point for me anymore.
