hi ya....been lurking on this board since basically the internet started......never felt the need to post before......MCA was my hero, both musically and spiritually.

I decided today that i really don't want the beasties to retire or go solo......they should start a NEW group with Q TIP.....we know they are boys, the synergy is there, and most long time beasties fans would accept QTIP as an alternative to Yauch.

Tribe and Beasties are done so why not combine the best parts of whats left??

I think that would be fly as hell. I don't want the music to stop either. It wouldn't be the same but it would be good shit! I miss Tribe, they were 2nd to only the Beasties. I still can't picture no more B Boys shows; it's unreal!

Q-Tip was just recently signed to Kanye West's label G.O.O.D. Music and will be busy with making beats, doing features, and working on his solo records.

ps. There is no "alternative to Yauch".

agreed, but if i had to see anyone stand shoulder to shoulder with Mike D and Ad Rock on stage it would be Qtip......and i prob wouldn't accept anyone else doing it....(ok besides Biz)

weren't there rumors of a second unreleased song that Qtip made with the Beasties during Ill communication era??

Well they've probably got more unreleased music than music that's been released!

Not true. Jeremy Lin was very adept at attacking the glass. We're going to be very good next year, his driving ability is going to open up a lot of offense from our other stars.

There's no point in talking like this. At best, currently, I could see Tip filling in for MCA if the other two played a one-off show in tribute. Even then, long shot.

Not to diss - sorry, I was a bit terse there. If anything, I could see them as part of a once-off project with other artists (whoever that may may be) in a manner akin to the Beatnuts/Alkaholiks thing....We'll have to wait and see I guess.

FYI: Charles Oakley wasn't a player that could put it on the floor and drive the lane. Rugged defender

I admit I like their song get it together, minus the use of the "N" word of course, but really, you could of just as easily started this thread and called it Nas.

ps - i would want Tip to join Mike d and Ad rock in BRAND NEW group......NOT THE BEASTIE BOYS

Another thought was a bunch of concept albums with guest stars ala Gorrilaz

not really......tribe and beasties go way back.....tribe opened for beasties back in the day for Hello Nasty, they toured together on lollapalooza, Tip would come on stage with the beastie every night.....

also, its the synergy of 2 of the best hip hop bands EVER not being whole......Tip is missing Phife and MCA is sadly no longer with us.....I understand its a pipe dream but could you imagine how insane this would be??

I just want the music to continue....these guys were just hitting there stride IMO

I do too, but I don't think they need to get another MC, or rapper for that matter to join The Beastie Boys. I do like the Gorrilaz concept where they would have guest stars.

Q-Tip is the only other artist besides Beastie's that I have and have to have every single piece of material of.

Even though Q-Tip is my 2nd favorite rapper to Adrock it wouldnt be the same without Yauch an I dont think anyone would ever.
I know everything "Q-Tip" an he's said quite a lot of times that he spent a lot of time with Beastie's in the studio back in the day an I hope those rumors of more recorded shit is true cause id do anything to hear that.

I am always looking video/audio for those shows where Q-Tip came out for "Get It Together" an if anyone has any let me know. So far iv only seen one video of them on stage together an Q-Tip kinda freestyles his parts like he apparently did on the finished verison of "Get It Together". Its fuckin awsome seeing my 2 fav rappers on stage together. NASAL TONGUES (y)

Pretty much this.

That long shot would be awesome to see though. I'd travel far to see it. I don't think it would be doing MCA any disservice, and would probably be a good way for people to share feelings and express themselves, Mike and Adrock included. Probably not going to happen though.

Yeah the 96 TFC one he just fucks about, the 98 one (it was up on this website in 2000 I think) was much more like the studio version. It rules, amazing deliveries all round. You could even hear MMM planting the seeds for Triple Trouble in his scratches.

That said, fucked if I'd know where to find it. :(

i guess he might have done it at some lollapalooza show in 94, but i'm getting old and can't remember.

either way, i liked the tfc one where he just went with it, semi-freestyle.

while they will NEVER be THE beastie boys again, I am starting to accept the inkling of Mike and Adrock continuing on under the name if they so desired. Or perhaps The Beastie Brothers (lol). It's clearly a bit early to inquire too hard about the future of the fellas though.

A collaboration of some sort is completely within the realm of possibility.
And I don't think Oak was suggesting that MCA could ever be replaced

Personally the idea of them having somebody else fill in Yauch's spot is unsettling. If they keep the name but do some crazy cool music together as Adrock and Mike D from the Beastie Boys without anybody trying to fill in Yauch's shoes, then I am all for it. I won't abandon Mike and Adam, ever. I just don't want some other MC to come in the studio and think Oh goody look at what I will be able to do under the Beastie Boys name. And before you know it an album will be released as Beastie Boys with Mike and Adam and some other dude. Don't like it. :/

He's saying Q-Tip won't have time to do a group collaboration. Like I said previously.

Q-Tip was just recently signed to Kanye West's label G.O.O.D. Music and will be busy with making beats, doing features, and working on his solo records.

ie: His docket is filled with making beats for Kanye's camp and doing his own thing. There won't be time for Tribe projects much less anything else.

I wouldn't worry. I really don't think they would approach it like that. I think, if we are lucky, there will be one more Beastie Boys album (which will of course include Yauch). After that I think the Beastie Boys name and group will be retired and Adrock & Mike D will record without the Beastie Boys name.

I'm going to sound like a dick here, but here goes...

I agree with Jo. I would LOVE to eventually hear new music from Adam H and Mike. Or the joints they were working on with Yauch.

But thinking of fantasy groups and adding new members is kinda too fucking soon!

New music? Yes! I'm always down to hear new tunes from Mike and Adam.

Supergroup with adding replacement MC's? No. I don't want to think or hear about that shit right now.

TOO FUCKING SOON!

Positive vibes, tho!

Cheers.

I was just assuming right off the bat a 5 year timeline at least. Even if the group was still intact, that would probably be what we would be looking at. I agree that they should take all the time they need. That goes for the stuff they did with Yauch last fall and anything else. As far as discussing fantasy scenarios, that's kinda what these boards are for.
But I like that you are passionate about the Beastie Boys, I can relate

I mean hey, I know we're all hurting over Yauch but we've still got 2 members of the group alive, I think they deserve some support too...

Yeah I know but still interesting to see how they perform it cause it can be hard. I saw Q-Tip live solo an when he did Tribe songs he did Phife's verses as well on some songs. I wonder if Beastie's did Q-Tip's parts ? Its really hard to find any live versions of the song.

Here we go talking about replacing MCA again....
not cool.

Whats not cool is the doom and gloom comes along with discussing Mike D and Adam H moving on with their lives both musically.......its an interesting debate though.....when most "bands" vocalist's leave the band its the death knell for said band.....no one wants to go see Queen without Freddy Mercury or GnR without Axl. But the Beasties in effect had 3 "lead vocalists"......could they move on? would it work? IMO they should retire the name Beastie Boys and not attempt to "replace" MCA but should at the very least have the support of their longtime fans to collaborate with whomever they want and make music whenever they want.....we owe that to them!
