No kidding! I even thought Sirius might dedicate a channel to the Boys for a little while and nothing.:mad:

Yeah, that movie was pretty bad. After the two debacles that were Snow Dogs and Boat Trip, Cuba Gooding, Jr tries for another "oscar performance"...unfortunately, he went full retard and ruined it...

As for the Beastie Boys, I'm pretty sure their interest in politics has something to do with the apparent lack of recognition following MCA's death. Musicians and entertainers have LONG been criticized for publicly expressing their political beliefs. They're expected to be robots...entertain us and go away until we need you to entertain us again...

Plus, musican/entertainer deaths always seem to get more publicity if they come suddenly, like a drug overdose or a plane wreck.

I was disappointed too. I know one station did play an hour retrospective that weekend, but I would've expected more from Sirius.

As for the rest of the media/radio stations/ etc....

Michael Jackson was an accused pedophile with LOTS of issues.

Whitney Houston did drugs (NOT crack though, that's cheap. And it's whack ) & had a "troubled relationship" with Bobby Brown.

Donna Summer partied at Studio 54. She claimed she contracted lung cancer by inhaling toxic particles after 9/11.

Honestly, even the coverage of Dick Clark's passing was under-covered by comparison to at least Jackson & Houston. "Scandal" is what makes money, unfortunately.

Every radio station pretty much is forced to play the same top 40 pop music or adult contemporary pop hits, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise. The few stations that still CAN play whatever they want (alternate side comes to mind) play the Beasties all the time anyway. Hot 97 dedicated their old school at noon to them, which is saying a lot considering the crap they are forced to play.

Its all good, people. The amount of love and respect MCA has received since his passing has been above and beyond anything I could have imagined.

I used to have a cassette alarm clock that used to play "no sleep till brooklyn" when it was time to wake up. small things like that makes being a beastie boys fan a great thing.

101x has always played beastie boys though, they even use their instrumentals a lot to pay homage. I also have never listened to a radio station that plays michael jackson, donna summer, or whitney houston sooo...

p.s. did someone just say whitney didn't smoke crack..?

Sorry. I always forget that sarcasm doesn't translate well on the Internet. She really did say crack was cheap & she'd never do something so low class (so where does marrying bobby brown fall?). She also did say "Crack is whack."

Pretty lucky not to have listened to a station that played those.
