Has anyone been having dreams of MCA or the Beastie Boys? I guess because I've been nothing but consumed by them for the last month that it would be inevitable that I would dream about them. And yes I have had a few dreams but last night I had two extremely vivid dreams about them. Of course they seemed vivid as I was dreaming but are little hazy now. The first one was rapping with MCA (I don't rap or even sing at least in public ;) )and remember that gravely voice of his. The second dream was (and this is going to be very weird) taking bong hits through socks. Don't ask me how it's possible but it was in my dream. I remember asking them if the socks were clean and they all started laughing. I know I'm weird and have always had weird dreams.

I guess I was just wondering if people were having dreams (weird or not) about them. I wonder if it's my conscious trying to get over MCA's death? Because in all the dreams I'm primarily hanging/talking with him.

I have a reoccuring dream where its the Big Day Out and the Beastie Boys are headlining, Im there but for some reason I can never make it to the stage were theyre playing. Problems always I occur I never get there. Which echoes real life, I never made it to the 2005 NZ BDO and subsequently any Beastie Boys performance.

Since MCA died I've had this dream again as well as a few more where the Beasties are touring and I'm either at their shows or are about to.

I also met Ad Rock in a recent dream and shook his hand.

I think its gonna take my dream-self a long time to come to terms with MCA's passing. Maybe never. Its something I'm reluctant to come to terms with.

@Space: That is an extremely cool dream (reminds me of a friend who once dreamt an entire Star Trek episode).

Much better the one I had recently, where I arrived at this underground station, and there was a tribute to MCA, with flowers and quotes, a sort of permanent installation in the ground. I walked around it and took it all in, and just ended up sobbing uncontrollably, but none of the other people there understood what was going on.

That said, I've also had a dream with everybody happy and smiling and giggling, so that made up for it. :)

Yea dude, and just like your dream, I am trying to get to this show, and it is described as the best show ever. And everything you could imagine happens to prevent it...and then the lyrics to the song are supposed to be like directions to get to a certain level, and so forth to progress towards the stage so to speak....something about Brr stick em having vocal clues , and there is like this theatrical , mechanical sphere like aparatis that spins certain stage like windows that have different scenes...but you only have a certain amout of time before all the scenes will collapse onto themselves.

I can't remember the lyrics at the moment but the chorus is at the beginning; and there are also visual clues like all the gold going down, and everybody going up to the top to ride waterspot looking things all the way down from the top of the globe to the south pole, and something like manhole covers bursting off...

its a pretty wild dream, and Yauch is in it for sure.

Well all of my dreams have been happy, smiley, and sometimes a little naughty luckily! ;) I'm happy to have those since my days are sad thinking about him.

I had a dream and it was about two days before he died. It wasn’t good. His face was distorted and he looked really frail. He was in a white hospital room. The sun was shining in so it must have been a nice day. He had on one of those hospital gowns. He didn’t look at me. It was like I was watching what he was doing which was just talking to others with him. He didn’t seem bothered which was comforting, but for me it was scary. What’s strange is that I have dreams now of ME with the cancer instead of him.

I had a dream about two weeks ago. I was just listening to Beastie Boys songs and thinking "man I'm glad this band existed in my lifetime". It was a good dream.

10 years ago I had a dream that Mike D died. I think it was the first time I had ever dreamt about them and it must have been somehow linked to the bike accident that cancelled the Rhyme & Reason tour. I woke up crying. That was a bad dream.

I had a dream just recently that I can't really remember, but what I can remember was I was at a show and they were on stage playing, but the sound was muffled and I couldn't really hear. It was like I was trying to listen under water and I kept getting further and further away from the stage or the stage was moving away from me.

I woke up and I remember sitting up in bed and just realizing I'm never going to see them again live and I was and still am super bummed out.:(

I have hella beastie dreams.

I had one where Mike D was telling me that I need to be more accepting of Yauchs passing and to know that he is no longer struggling.

I had a dream Yauch was my boyfriends next door neighbor, I met him, his wife, and his daughter. He looked very happy and bright, he broke down a few rhymes for me using my name (Jackie) it was a real good dream. Woke up and teared up for a minute.

I had a dream that I was at an elementary school in Brooklyn for a family-oriented event and MCA was there too. But he was really short. My husband wanted to get his autograph, but I got embarrassed and asked him not to-- "he just died. Please don't ask him for his autograph." Strange dream.

I've had a ton of reoccurring dreams prior to his death about meeting the Beasties in person and just hanging out.

Your dream rules dude! Dream songs always freak me out, I used to have gospel themed ones when I was younger. I'd be in a church, a choir would be singing a spooky sounding gospel sound that my head wrote that I've now forgotten. There was also a floating crucifix with Jesus attached. Yeah dreams rule.

Maybe I was supposed to be a messanger for the lord or something. Dunno, ignored those dream messages.

Anyhow I love how you can remember the lyrics. Can I rip them off and put them in a song? I'll give you a writing credit if it turns out any good. Unless you want to use them. They're your intellectual property anyhow.

After his death I was filled with much anger and sadness (that Friday I came home from work and I answered an email to Sarah where we talked about the PWR2MCA: (and after sending the mail I found out) :(

I wanted to thank Yauch, was eager to embrace him, to give a giant hug. I told him how much he appreciated everything we gave ... I called him. In my prayers I called him for give a hug to Yauch ... one night ... I do not know if it was a dream ... but I swear I felt that he hugged me.I promise! I remember I woke up and felt that hug!

Finally I was convinced it was a dream, but I promise it was very real ... for me it was a hug from Adam. :)

There was this field outside of this group of New York project buildings. Not just a grassy area, but a big empty field, and I was standing at the ground level of these projects. Then I remember seeing a tree, and a stone wall. And then he and I were sitting on the wall.

He was wearing a check shirt, had the beard trimmed back some, was definitely thinner, but not pale at all. He was telling me what it was like, how dope it was, to be an actual MC when they first came up. He said "I was it! I was an MC! There was nothing cooler to me in those days, and here I was, doing what my heroes did!".

Then he kind of looked a little bummed out, or pensive, for a second, and he jumped down off the wall. I didn't see where he went, but when I looked back up there were groups of friends on picnic blankets laughing and having fun, kids and parents playing games and flying kites, and the sun was shining brighter than I'd ever seen. The grass was really green, and it all made perfect sense.

I dreamt about him 3 times while he was sick. Once he looked normal, the other two times he looked like an old man. This time, he looked like a weight had been lifted.

True story. It was maybe five nights ago.

Had a dream last night about MCA. It was crazy because I hadn't been listening to the Beasties and I hadn't listened to Yauch's speaking voice since that day either... Anyway this sorta forced me to because it was NAMASTE. All I did was walk up to some large sterio system and I pressed play. I just remember listening to NAMASTE and that was pretty much it. I don't remember any of the music, it was just his voice echoing around me.

I was gonna say perhaps it was a sign that I need to just listen and enjoy all he gave to us. I should do that...

A few weeks ago I had a dream, which would be the 2nd MCA related dream that I remember since he died. I was in a convenient store getting something when out of the corner of my eye I saw a young punk kid at the checkout. The kid was MCA… MCA at 17 when the Beasties were still in their infancy. Young punk MCA was wearing a leather jacket and boots, but this version of Punk MCA was a little more punk as he had blue hair and an eyebrow piercing.
In my dream, I was all like, “Wait that’s MCA, but he’s a kid.”

It was a strange dream.

I had another one where I knew he was in the dream, but I don't remember it. Just know he was in it.

I've had Beasties dreams now and again through the years, usually it is me just hangin out with them, just talking, not about anything specific or earth-shattering, just shootin the breeze. I usually wake up and am so sad the dream is over, you know how you try to get back to a dream, that's what I would do.

I just had a new dream a couple days ago, same thing, just hangin out, but it was just Ad Rock and Mike D. :( The dream was great because it was awesome to talk to them, but so sad that MCA didn't show up in it.

The other night I had a dream that I was walking around the city at night with some chick, and we randomly bumped into the Beastie Boys circa 1987, and we just started hanging out with them. I was telling her all about them and shit.

Here's mine from last night: The scene was a fairly large, but otherwise standard hospital room, with about ten people standing in it, in small groups, almost like at a function, but more subdued. It was clear to all of them that these were MCA's last hours. He wasn't in the bed, though, he was standing up, dressed in a suit, and talking. Then, at one point, he said, "I want to go home now", whereupon there was some activity to sort out travel arrangements. Until everybody noticed, one by one, that he had disappeared.

I still have dreams about them esp MCA all the time. Nothing that stands out or anything. Just really hanging out and talking. No idea what we are talking about but it's usually lighthearted and fun. Now I still have a few racy dreams and when I wake up I'm sad b/c I woke up. :p I always try to get back into those dreams. LOL!!

As we were chatting, it turns out that my hifi system is part of their studio, and MCA starts pushing some white and green buttons on it as the music is playing, and then says "Cool." and disappears into the studio proper to try something out.

So. The Beastie Boys! Inspired! By My! Hifi System!

Doesn't sound very interesting when I write it down, but I woke up full of bliss and an urge to listen to Johnny Ryall :)

I've had one Beastie related dream in my life prior to 5/4/12. I dream about them about every couple weeks now.

I had a dream a few nights ago that has really stuck with me:

I heard you could meet the BBoys on New Year's Eve at some bar. I got in line early and was first to meet them. Only 10 people showed up. I was surprised that it was MCA and Adrock (where was Mike D?!), especially since MCA was no longer with us. I was so nervous, but I finally got up the courage to ask MCA a question. I told him I was studying Buddhism and was confused about materialism. I asked him how one could lead a life that was comfortable financially without looking gauche and materialistic, but without living in poverty. I gave the example of my watch, and said that it cost more than some people could spend, but it wasn't a Rolex.

MCA's answer was this: "Just think about how long it would take you to spend $100,000."

???

Then the dream continued, we took photos together, drank tea, meditated, and I woke up.

I've been trying to figure out what the dream means. I interpret it like this: If I could spend 100 grand in a flash (say I bought a huge diamond ring or a Hummer or whatever), versus if I had to ponder how to spend the money (Give some to charity? Give some to my parents? Invest it? Start my own business?), then that is the difference between material wealth and being wealthy in your soul. I guess it's not that amazing now that I'm awake and thinking about it. It's not a concept that is foreign to me. I would never buy a Hummer! But it was so comforting to have him reassuring me through my dream that it's OK to make money, to have money, to even spend money - as long as it's thoughtful, judicious, helpful, and useful.

Anyway, like so many others, it's just one of many dreams I've had in the last several months. Comforting on one hand, but the sense of loss is so palpable in the morning.

A lot of us have had Adam on the brain more than ever. In my opinion it's not a coincidence that you'd be having these dreams or feelings about what's the right thing to do verses the more selfish thing to do. Not that's it's bad to want a nice new car. I think Adam implanted something really special in all of us and he will continue to influence our lives in little ways just like this.

Here's mine. Sorry if you read this, Sarah. I couldn't remember it all so I copied from the e mail I sent....

I used to live in South Carolina, near North Carolina. *I dreamt I went to see the Beasties in North Carolina at this really small place. *It was almost like an office. There were like 8 seats set up & this gal was telling us what would happen- the guys would come out & we would applaud. *They'd drop rhymes & we'd applaud. They would leave. *We'd watch a TV monitor of what they were doing. *They'd come back & rap. *So, like all this happened & at the end they were like "we all need to take a little walk & get to know you.". So, we walked around this, like, office building into a big garage where tour buses were parked. They started talking to everyone & I just kindda stood in the corner. *I was on the phone with someone- maybe you- & it was like "how is it? *Did you meet them yet?". I was like, no, I haven't met any of them yet. *Then I got a friendly punch on the arm & shoulder & Yauch started talking to me. I just remember him saying, "here I am!" *It was really surreal. *I don't remember what else he said to me or what I said to him. *I kindda wish I did. *Other aspects I remember we're Mike D's kids dancing before they came out & Mike D had sunglasses on with a piece of paper that said "License to Ill" written across it. *I remember nothing about Adrock :(. It's strange, but when I woke up, I kindda felt happy. *Like, I had some sort of peace. *I can't remember ever having a dream like that.

Really don't remember dreams like that & I have had some where it's just like "whoa.". I've even had premonitions about things. Thought I'd share my little dream since there was a place to post. I will add that when I had this, I was visiting Daytona Beach, FL. Ya know, where they taught Larry Bud Melman how to pick up gals.

Of course I still have dreams here and there about them but when I re-read this thread yesterday I had an awesome dream about them last night. I only remember MCA trying to rhyme to impress me but he kept fumbling the lyrics. I had to help him finish. Then Adrock did the same but Mike D was mysteriously silent throughout the whole dream. In fact I never even saw his face in the dream just the back of his head. I don't remember the rest but I felt so good that I could help them finish their rhymes. i love them! :)

Damn. I had a long dream about Adam last night. I can’t remember it all though and it makes me mad because there was a lot going on.

Anyway, I remember he looked exactly how he looked when we all last saw him at FFYR in L.A. He had the beard but was wearing jeans and one of his signature shirts. It was a Yauch shirt for sure. He was driving a tractor!??? A red one. Anyway, he was moving around a lot and all of the fans were there watching him and showing him pictures we had of our experiences with him over the years. He was laughing about the photos and seemed to be enjoying himself in between what he was doing.

At one point he was hauling stuff for a move all by himself and everybody was watching him do this. He looked frail and all but had all of this energy.

And then he was in the tractor crying. I remember he thought everybody was too busy looking at the photos that they didn’t notice him crying. I did though. I also remember wanting to follow him but I knew that I couldn’t. When he drove away I think I was trying to find him but that’s all I remember. I was overcome with great sadness when I woke up this morning.

I had a dream the other day, also with punk-era beasties, which is weird because I don't really follow their very old stuff. I remember MCA grinning. I was introduced to John Barry, which disrupted the dream because he didn't look anything like himself.

I dreamt last night that Mike D put out a song, he was rapping and everything. It had a electronica/hip-hop sound to it and he sounded amazing. I remember in the dream being so excited about it. I really want to hear his voice again. (y)
