another would be a book, complete with a book tour and signing.

i wish the beasties had made more records together.
In 26 years they put out 8 major records.
As compared to for example the Rolling Stones who managed to record 26 albums in 26 years.

Consider what they accomplished and where they took music to, and consider every album The Beatles ever put out was in the span of 10 years!
That's it. 1960 - 1970.
From "I wanna hold your hand" to "Lucy in the sky with diamonds"

I consider the beasties a better group than the beatles merely because they had stayed together as a group for over 30 years without breaking up.
I love the fact also that from the interview I read recently that they split everything 3 ways, so there was no dispute over who owned or wrote what and was due more royalties. thats real friendship!(y):)

Yeah, it would've been great if MCA could have written an autobiography. Adrock doesn't seem like the type, but Mike D possibly would.

I would have also loved to have had a video game from the beasties. the 90's sega b-ball game was really cool but a would have loved an entire video game with them. the "sabotage" video would have made a perfect theme for one. or perhaps they could have compiled all thier video's themes into one game for example, "fight for your right" could have had many angles. a pie throwing scene, a scene where you get to trash a house or throw out unwanted guests. the possibilities could/would be endless!
"hold it now, hit it" would have been another theme where the beasties would be at a skate/bike park and they could do all sorts of things, simalar to atari's 720 game or paper boy.

I wish they could have played the HSC songs live. I was listening to "Say It," and man, that would have been an AMAZING live song. I agree with DJ Pioneer, I wish Yauch had written an autobiography. I hope that someday someone does an in-depth, authorized biography of him, since he had such an interesting life.

Zep is probably one of my top 5 bands in history, and I actually like the more than the Beatles.
BUT,...No one pushed the boundaries of pop culture and pop music further than The Beatles in a mere 10 year span. And that includes the Beasties who probably came the closest since.
But we digress...
YoungRemy

true, Money$
in my own analogy, beastie boys were similar to beatles in their influence on pop culture and on their avant garde videos and filmmaking side of things, where they compared to Zeppelin on breaking boundaries on the recording production and sound element side of things.
the way they were hands on in their groundbreaking approach to recording seems like the way Jimmy Page did things, of course you could say that Beatles had the help of George Martin and Phil Spector etc... the beastie boys had used the tutelage of Rubin, Caldato, Dust Brothers etc and took it to the next level.
completely spitballing here
and on that note, the beastie boys never made a proper double album, so that's my contribution to the thread

Not too late for someone to do this. I look at the game that somebody made for that celebrated cult bad movie "The Room" and think that somebody could take that game engine and make a Beastie Boys game out of it easily. Perhaps a level per era (LTI, PB etc). Limitless opportunities for mini-games such as pie throwing, egg throwing etc. Limitless Adventure game tasks like finding Rush a screw driver and finding the slow & low demo tape etc. I wish I had the tech know-how to attempt it.....

I can say one thing I wish they hadn't done,
I wish they hadn't done the Mumia Abu-Jamal benefit show.
I wish they had done more "secret-ish" small venue shows. Similar to the legendary Hiro show or the Quasar shows.

I was watching the Blur film "No Distance Left to Run" recently and really wished someone had've made a similar doc on the Beasties, interviewing them separately as well as together about their takes on the band's history and interspersing with archive and new footage.
I know it's pointless but it's hard not to think about what they might have done next if Yauch had recovered. There might well have been a huge buzz of activity.

That Fight For Your Right (Revisited) Full Length video is the bomb. Make it a Broadway play. Have 4 acts with the boys continuing to confront future and past selves. When they get released from jail they get transported into Pauls Boutique, hijinx ensue and before you know it the boys have killer flow.
Many musical epiphanies come and go via boom boxes, ghetto blasters and songs flowing freely out cars and kitchen windows. Lots of great style, great dance moves and outrageous hip hop. All culminating with one message at the end, peace and love.
I can imagine some really great plot lines and twists most of them hilarious.

Hahaha, great idea, love it! They could really get it into more story-telling in three or four acts.
When I watched it again last week, I was thinking of the "check back in 25 years" line at the end.. what if Yauch's daughter gets into film-making and takes the reigns for making that happen. Would be awesome. Love her cameo in the vid.

I wish they had been able to release the current ly unreleased HSC volume as Adam H alluded to in an interview as a series of 7" singles so that once they were all released they would constitute a box set. I also wish they had made all of the live shows they have archived available either as limited CD's like Pearl Jam did with one of their tours, or as digital downloads via a music subscription like Fugazi did. It would also have been cool to see stem tracks (a la NIN) available in high quality audio lossless files.
Actually, all of this could still be done.
And oh yeah, crack open the vault.

Just listened, Interesting, yeah would like to hear AdRock's remix too if you find it. Gonna expose my ignorance here, but i didn't realize the Beasties themselves did remixes of others peoples' work, especially as individuals. I've always thought they focused on the rapping and let people like DJ Hurricane, Mario C and MixMasterMike handle the scratching, sampling, mixing, etc. Guess i gots lots to learns. —
As far as this Mike D remix, basically no vocals from him apart from that introduction - i would've rather seen him leave the music alone and add his own rapping / vocals in the space around Matisyahu — guessing it wasn't really a direct interactive sort of collaboration based on the way this sounds. I think if Mike D and Matisy. were actually in the studio together, they could come up w some pretty amazing stuff!
..also have been reading the new info re: Mario C announcing there is good material with MCA that will be released at some point. Of course I'm very happy to hear that!
I know it's still too soon to talk about this much, but i did see where Diamond and Horowitz said they'll be open to working together in future, but won't try to carry on the Beastie Boys name without Yauch. I love the amount of respect and love that that shows.
Someone earlier wrote about them calling themselves Beastie Brothers, now there's an interesting idea.. also could invite others to collaborate with them, especially people who've worked/ hung out with them a lot in the past, like Q-Tip, Rev Run, and DMC. ..And though I don't think they've collaborated directly much or at all, the idea of them working with Matisyahu seems intriguingly full of interesting potential

Do a youtube search for Adrock DJ'ing. There's all kinds of stuff our there. They make the majority of their own beats. I can not imagine how hard it must be for them to even consider making music without him now.
I initially thought it would be interesting to see them and Matis work together after I saw him at HOB in Orlando a couple of summers ago. I know they're works aren't really that similar but I think it would just work. Especially after hearing their song with Santigold on HSCP2. I am convinced now.
Doesn't really matter to me what direction they take. If they put out a polka release I'm gonna be all over it.

Seriously though I remember when that Linkin Park/Jay-Z mash up thing was released, there were other artists supposedly in talks to do something similar and Bboys/Chemical Brothers were two of the acts said to be in talks. i think it could have happened, i know the chemicals were fans, but they have never been one for obvious collabs really, they did a couple with heroes and contempories. Maybe there was a remix in the pipeline. I just think with the whole dust brothers connection then maybe they thought it too obvious or maybe didnt have a good enough idea
