i think this is the new normal now. it's a normal wave. get use to it folks. im not bothered by it one bit so far. i enjoy this type of weather. the only thing that worries me are the crazy fucking storms.

i see people absolutely misserable just walking around. and im busting my ass on my bike going for intense 30 mile rides and soaking up the sun. love this shit.

i keep reading in the news about people dying because of the heat. is it really that hot? or is it just being exagerated.

i think i've mutated myself with all the riding i do in this type of heat over the years. haha. totally immune to it.

i'll be biting my tongue 5 years from now when the normal highs are 110...

I don't think it's being exaggerated. I think people don't know how to handle the heat- staying hydrated, dressing appropriately, not exerting yourself more than you can handle. I used to work outside at the airport & there aren't too many places that are hotter than an airplane cargo bin or outside the gate. I just grew accustom to the heat that way, but I know how much I can take & that I need to drink water.

I heard it described as a 'heat bubble zone' or something akin to that on the news. I object to that quite a lot.

I think just old people with heart conditions die in the hot weather.

Our heat wave broke finally, I didn't mind it too much when it was happening, but I was starting to get crabby. Riding a bike is pretty enjoyable though, better than walking for sure, and your muscles are all loose and ready for action in the heat. I think I have endurance built up enough now that I never even got that sweaty even when it was 100 or so.

I don't want it to be 100+ all the time though. :(

Or children left in cars with no ventilation. I suppose, in these hot temps, even with ventilation kids might not survive.

yeah, riding in the heat seems to help your muscles quite a bit. i don't know why but it does definitely make a huge difference. and i sweat so much that all my clothing and myself is covered in a fine layer of salt afterwards. i go through 2 liters of water each ride and i sweat it all out.

i read that something like only 80 or so people have died because of this heat wave. they're making it out to be some sort of massive tragedy. there's been heatwaves within the past ten years were thousands have died. i don't understand why it's such a big deal this time around. everyone is freaking out.

It's this goddamn humidity they have out east that is killing me this summer. I long for the dry heat back in the BC interior.

I've been ok, I over did it for a few weeks and wasn't using electrolyte supplements so I felt nauseous and had an elevated heart-rate for a few days in a row. I think I've got my body back under control again.

It's 35+ outside right now and I'm going out to play ultimate frisbee for 2.5 hours so if I can survive that every week I can do anything.

The humidity is def what does it for not being able to even breathe outside.
