The 2012 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is honoring Adam at this year's concert with a special tribute (bkhiphopfestival.com, if you're interested). Not sure yet exactly what the "tribute" will be. Busta Rhymes is headlining this year and is going to be bringing special guests onto the mainstage. Given that he had some really heartfelt words for the Beastie's on Adam's passing ("BEASTIE BOYS Will Forever Be 1 of the BIGGEST inspirations 4 me in music & Life") we might even see a tribute from Busta himself. I'm trying to imagine what he might cover if he did decide to do something like that: "The New Style," "Paul Revere" doesn't feature a ton of MCA on the mic, but he did a version on Green Lantern's Beastie mixtape, maybe "Slow and Low"? Who knows?
Anyway, I'll be there and if I can record anything, I'll post it here for sure. If you're within distance of Brooklyn, you should probably go - these concerts are a great time. Everything happens right under the Brooklyn Bridge in DUMBO.

Have you been so far this year or just going to the grand finale? We had some friends go to this a few years ago and they said it was
a really good time. It would have been great if this could have been held next month :)
I'd love to see or hear whatever you get. Especially any tributes to the beasties. Have fun

Only have time to go to the final day - which is what I usually do anyway - but that's the best part. Last year with Q-Tip was amazing. I thought they'd have a hard time topping that, but I'm really proud that they're acknowledging Adam in this way and can't wait to see how it goes down. I think it definitely speaks to the real affection those in hip hop have for the Beasties.

I just read some summaries of the festival with no mention of any Yauch tribute.

That would suck if nothing at all was said. That is certainly not how it was promoted in this area, at least :(

Yeah, there weren't any covers and I didn't hear Busta say anything about Adam during his performance. Apart from a couple of hats with "King of the Ave" on them and some other loose Beastie memorabilia on site, I definitely didn't catch the "tribute" they were promoting.
The festival generally does a bad job letting people know what's going on. The lineups change constantly and special guests are usually confirmed on Twitter the day before or day of the event. I'm sure there was some aspect of the festival that honored Adam, but it wasn't on the final day. Really, really disappointing.
Nevertheless, Phife, Q-Tip, Slick Rick, Leaders of the New School, Buckshot and Smif and Wessun all performed. It was a great concert, but I'm pissed that there wasn't any reliable information about the tribute.
Sorry I don't have anything cooler than that to post.

That sucks, but thanks for letting us know. Greatly appreciated
