that almost sounds like an episode of Sienfeld. Does her name rhyme with a female body part you can spell?

I have hard time with bdays too. I also feel like I should know when to. Shut up but I don't.

i know nothing about the economy. I just know everyone's skint and the banks are taking the piss.

I'm not very good at DIY, I dont know a lot of the basics. Just never had to do it really. I havent needed to do a lot of it as i have always known someone who could just do it.

I still dont know that much about music production even though its a hobby. I've been dabbling too long and some of it is still a mystery

Along the same lines, I just can't understand the difference between looseless & flac, or whatever they're called. I have a friend that's sent me sooo many different shows & people would ask what format they're in & I have no clue whatsoever.

what? the other lossless format? there's a few.

there's basically two type of formats. lossless and lossy. mp3's files are lossy along with many many others. and flac files are lossless along with a few more. there's not very many lossless formats compared to lossy.

lossless just means that no audio information is lost during the conversion from the first audio source. it should sound exactly like the original source audio. mp3's and all the other lossy formats throw away bits of audio information to help reduce the size of the file. most people can't really tell or care about the bits of audio that have been thrown away. but people that can tell hate lossy formats because they can hear the degradation caused by the bits of audio information thrown away.

I am still lost. I guess that's just something I'll never understand. Like football. I don't get US football.

All you need to know is

FLAC or WAV= good, although uses more hard drive space. FLAC is the same as WAV except the file is squished so it doesn't take up as much space. Quality is exactly the same. FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec.

mp3's = bad, don't take up much room.

If you want good sound quality equal to CD, FLAC or WAV is what you want.

I'm still a little lost. So, when I play the CDs thru iTunes, do they auto convert to MP3s? How would I know if I have WAV files? I mean, I'm not picky about sounding perfect, but I have been asked what format. I know my friend that sends me stuff has FLAC and or WAV, but does that "disappear" once burned on CD? I guess that's where I get confused. I haven't gotten Excited about any shows in the past few years, so I kinda lost interest. He is supposed to send me some Beastie Boys stuff though.

When you say 'play your CDs thru itunes' do you mean after the music is saved into your itunes library? Then yes, when you rip CDs to put in your itunes library, they go into a format like mp3, except theirs is called AAC. Effectively the same thing. In the settings you can choose what quality itunes saves your music to.

If you burn a mp3 to CD, it is still shittier quality. If you burn a WAV or FLAC to CD, then you still have CD quality.
