I don't post on here much, but thought some of you guys might like this. On Public Enemy's new album, "Most of my heroes still don't appear on no stamp", at the end of the last song, they rattle ofF some of their heroes. At the very end, they mention JMJ, and right after that, MCA. I thought it was pretty cool of them to include him.

That's cool. I definitely want to hear that, even if he just drops his name for 1 second

The album sounds pretty good so far as well. I enjoyed the first single/video, fresh original beats

Ive always liked PE's beats and loops and music and samples. They are killer. always have been. and i like chuck D. very intelligent and a good MC. and flavor flav is great as a sort of crazy front man crowd hyper. even at 60 years old. but i never liked the "anti-whitey establishment" and "black is everything" tone they have in their records. sorry. thats why i never really bought more than a couple of their joints way back in the day. whats up? any biters?

It doesn't surprise me (based on his previous comments) that 40726 would find PE threatening.

99% of PE is pretty thoughtful and intelligent music. But of course there are always gonna be people that hear a song/album title of theirs and instantly pee their pants.

I'm really glad they did this. It sort of sets the record straight, in a way. Back when Public Enemy was far and away the biggest thing going in hip hop, they used to include super extended shout outs in their album inserts. Pretty much everyone got mentioned: precursors, like The Last Poets; old school acts, like Run DMC and Whodini; newer acts, like the Geto Boys and NWA; and pretty much anyone else who was involved with hip hop at the time. They even had special names for them like the Extra Strength Posse, or something along those lines. Not a single mention of the Beastie Boys on these comprehensive, industry-wide acknowledgments on either It Takes a Nation of Millions or Fear of a Black Planet. I'm sure it had more to do with the legal posturing between Def Jam/Russell Simmons and the Beasties, but it was a pretty obvious slight and it helped to contribute to the idea that the Beastie Boys weren't really down with hip hop after they left Def Jam. It took a while for that to turn back around.

PE is easily my favorite hip hop group apart from the Beasties, so it's been cool for me to see how much things have changed since then. Chuck and Flav clearly have a lot of love for them and don't feel any pressure now to keep that under wraps.

Trust me the entire album is good. Is it Nation or Fear...NO, but overall it's very good and consistent and fresh. The single is good, that crazy bass in the middle sounds like the Shake Your Rump bass, the Z-Trip cut is good, the track with DMC RLTK is pure Old School awesome and DMC's voice sounds good, WTF? is different but good, the Brother Ali song is good....if you like PE then you will be happy, if you were never really into them you won't.

I'm a huge PE fan, not sure I agree with that anti-white BS comment, in fact I think they should be the next Hip Hop act inducted into the HOF hands down because that is how relevant they were. Put their plaque right next to Elvis!

Yeah i think its kinda hilarious to see white people at PE concerts going "Fight the Power!!". What a joke. But most old school rappers still doing it nowadys have white fans only. Because their music and efforts and contributions are genuinely appreciated. And rightly so. But this new rap crap for kids nowadays with the racist undertones and stuff is just garbage. Straight garbage. I dont see how any white person would be a fan of that junk. Sorry.

Hey guys; figured I'd post this here instead of making a new thread for all MCA mentions.

Das Racist just put a new track out today, in which Kool A.D. drops "I think I'm Bad Brains, Peace to MCA."

I know they're not quite Public Enemy, but they do have some beastie connections. They're pretty heavily influenced by them and awhile ago were linked with Adrock potentially producing something for them but nothing ever came of it.

I dig them, they're not everyone though. anyway, peace.

This is a good track. Good MCA reference too. I love their first two records and haven't checked out Relax yet. I got to get on that. Solo stuff is cool too. Different. I think they are my favorite contemporary hip hop right now.

Relax isn't as good as their mixtapes and solo material, but it's worth checking out.

I keep hearing that. Maybe too unfocused with all the solo stuff that was being worked on at the same time?
