***OFFICAL Beastie Boys Celebration Thread - August 4th***

Sorry about all of the spam and there is nothing really official about this thread. I just want to eliminate any confusion I may have caused by changing locations.

When: Aug 4th, 8PM
Where: Overlook Bar - 225 East 44th Street, New York, NY 10017

Facebook Event Page: http://www.facebook.com/events/289164961172690/

Let's get together for an evening where we can celebrate our favorite band and the life of Adam Yauch. We thought August 4th was the perfect date for this event as it's the eve of Adam's birthday. Expect lots of Beastie Boys related music, fans sharing stories, and most importantly, good times.

Tell your friends, family, and anyone interested in having a good time to come out.

If you have any questions or suggestions please send me a message.

PEACE,

Jason

P.S. We also plan on doing a Beastie Walking / Subway tour in the daytime. http://freepdfhosting.com/2cc4eb0647.pdf - There is no charge for this - its just a bunch of fans hanging out seeing some Beastie related sites.

Between landmark 10 and 11 - when you're going from State Street to Bergen Street to get on the F train - look out the subway on the left hand side once it goes aboveground after Carrol Street. There's another RIP MCA mural (http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p314/Burzootie/2d87e0116027f2b5fb78795d593b54ca.jpg) on a rooftop that you can see from the train.

some media hound from Brooklyn is desperately trying to get in touch with the group so she can film them in their Brooklyn leg of the tour. some of the responses to her are pretty funny... one person directed her to call 718 498 1043 and ask for Janice. she's clueless.

has anyone heard from anyone? hope they are feeling the spirit and energy of the city and Adam.

I heard close to 40 folks. Bad cell connection but the crew was headed to a mural.

I know Michelle, our tour photog will post far better pics somewhere, but I wanted to post some preliminary shots for those interested (sorry for the crappy quality...forgot my real camera and had to use my phone...grrr).

Seems fitting that there is a Buddhist center at this spot now:

Might have to look to really see the mural on the upper left in this one...a bit blurry...

Shout-out to Ms. PacMan for sending us the stickers so we could spread some MCA/Beastie PWR around NYC. This little Ms. PacMan tribute was taken at Iggy's, a bar right near Ludlow/Rivington, a.k.a the Paul's Boutique corner (I wanted to put a sticker on this machine - would have been so perfect - but the bartender was so super nice to us here, I just couldn't do that to him):

the PWR2MCA car is UNREAL.

what are the details? is that a permanent paint job? who is responsible for that piece of beauty?

Here's what I know:

I believe Khloe found the first photo of it on Instagram a couple of days ago. She's contacted the bloke who made it but I don't know if he's replied to her yet.

Heather from this messageboard is in NYC right now at Jason's event; and she emailed me another pic. I don't know the exact location. I'm sure she'll give us deets once she gets home.

BTW throw me a bone here, people. What is the make of the car? Anybody recognise?

It was parked in front of the Overlook. It's a Caddy (feel free to correct me, people). Nice tribute to Jam Master Jay at the front.

All around, I think it was a pretty amazing night. Thanks to Jason & everyone else who got it together. And music was great (of course). I held myself together pretty well, but the moment of silence almost broke me.

The caddy was all done by Dave and his crew. He told me he was putting something together...but I had no idea that it was going to be as mind blowing as it was. It literally brought people to tears when it pulled up to the curb at Overlook. Really moving. Set a great tone for the evening.

August 4th 2012 is a day in my life that I will never forget. I had such a great time meeting everyone on the tour, and partying at Overlook until they threw us out! Major props to Jason for setting this all up and also to Pat for playing great music all night long! I am so hungover right now, but it was all worth it. Nothing beats a bar FULL of Beastie fans looking to have a great time.....and we sure did!

Definately a night not to be forgotten!

No I wasn't a shooter for AIFST, but I was invited by my buddy rniebling to the screening where we first met. He was one of the shooters.

Ditto! Nice to "see" you here on the board, Vinny. Hit us up if you're ever in NH. Go Pats. :p
Heather, so great to meet you in person too!

Can't thank Jason enough for putting this together, and thanks again to Pat for providing the ultimate soundtrack to the evening.
It was really great to meet everyone.

I hope this is an annual or at least every-couple-years type of thing going forward. It was awesome to be able to spend a full day and evening with other fans...how often do you get to do that?! Not to mention non-stop Beastie music all evening. Perfect!

I may have to leave my husband at home next time, since walking around in 90+ degree humid weather for 7+ hours in the name of Beastie fandom was, surprisingly, not his favorite thing ever. (WHAT?!) I guess only diehard fans do stuff like that. (I will surely pay him back if Radiohead fans ever organize a similar event.) :)

Thanks again to all of you for an unforgettable, ILL time. (y)
