Mass murders are happening in America regularly now. I'm saddened beyond belief and am beginning to think that we've become insane here in the USA.

And once again the President and Candidate Romney issued statements that offer up prayers after this weeks mass murder.

If we all pray for the senselessness of these acts next weeks mass murder we'll be more seasoned at praying for mass murders as they happen with more and more frequency.

Makes perfect sense. Not insulting or offensive at all.

that's probably all they can say in an election year. You bring up gun control & the NRA/pro-gun rights people have problems. You don't say anything & you're cold. Remember how much flack Obama got in 2008 for the comment about people living in West PA being all about religion & guns. I now live in PA & understand what he meant. But, apparently, no one want to rock the boat.

I was just watching this on the news and thinking to myself, when the movie theater killings happened it was on every channel, with updates on what was going on by the minute. Is it because there were not as many killed today or are we getting desensitized to it? You would think that one senseless death is too many. When I was a kid living in San Diego some crazy girl decided she was bored one Monday morning and opened fire on an elementary school full of kids. Her name was Brenda Spencer. It's been like 30 years and I will never forget it. I heard a news reporter last week say that there has never been a woman who has done anything like this. I'm sure the families of those killed that day would beg to differ. The Boomtown Rats actually wrote a song about it, I Don't Like Mondays. It seems these people always display some kind of mental issues somewhere along the way. Maybe schools and acquaintances of these people need to start stepping up and reporting these behaviors in people to someone. Don't get me wrong, I know some of these people are just plain evil and there isn't anyway of knowing. It just seems each time there are handfuls of people talking about how so-and-so has never been normal...

dude theres always copycats to this shit. malcom gladwell wrote some shit about it.

and what gets your pantys in a bunch about a couple of mass shootings when americas biggest cities have a high murder rate where most are inner city residents. thats equally as terrible but you don't seem to pay it much mind in comparison. like everything was okay before those two things happened and once those did you lost your top about it.

I'm going to have to be quiet until checkyourprez says I actually understand mass murdering and have enough credibility to get my panties in a bunch?

Pretty sure yeahwho was only remarking on a observation he made. I don't think he was dismissing any of the murder rates in this country

I was also watching news tonight & I noticed that CNN- Anderson Cooper- was using this killer's name & focused a lot of attention on the killer. With the CO hootings, they hardly ever mentioned that guy's name nor did they focus on his friends/former colleagues/etc. it feels like some sort of double standard. Maybe it's unintentional. But it's there.
I don't remember the school shooting in SD, but I read some about it & since I was in to Brit music, I read up on "I don't like Mondays.". I agree that schools need to step up & recognize signs of mental stress/disorders. Society I. General needs to get rid of all the preconceived ideas of mental illnesses- depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc. As someone who has mental disorders, I pretty much had to figure out on my own that I was sick & needed help.

Just one more note about "I don't like Mondays.". Several months ago, iTunes had it categorized as a party song. I wrote Apple to let them know what the song was about & I'm pretty sure they removed it from that category...

then you should see my point.

sure these are terrible events. but just because a lot of people die at once doesnt mean people have all the sudden lost their minds. cumulatively more murders happen over the course of the year in these large cities but go largely unnoticed. almost anyone murdering someone has something wrong with them, whether they are killing one person or 6 or 12. the world has not suddenly gone mad. its been mad in that regard.

and check out what malcolm gladwell wrote about it. i read it a while ago and just really remember the main point, but it holds pretty true.
