Are they the future?

They can pretty much make anything now, including replacement organs. The digital revolution (in particular the internet) has made people in general impatient, as we're now used to being able to get any book, TV show, movie, or music at the touch of a button.

Will we get to a point where everyone can just print anything we want? It doesn't seem that unbelievable given the rate at which technology is developing.

It can't form complex machines, guns; and explosives have chemicals, moving parts, it doesn't work that way, but it can form solid metal shapes. Like knives and stabbing weapons.

Yeah I was going to say, there is nothing to stop you assembling things with moving parts surely? And the chemicals thing: obviously we can't just make them without the component elements, although the way science is accelerating I wouldn't be surprised if we pretty much cracked alchemy/some kind of nanotechnology that would allow us to transform substances into other ones in the next 100 years.
