Ok, so it's finally become "summer" on the West Coast the past couple of weeks. We usually have great weather, but it's the whole sleep-with-the-fan- blowing-full-blast-on-you kinda weather...

None of us on the coast have air conditioning as we usually don't need it.

How many of you actually sleep with not only your windows open, but maybe your sliding doors open to help clear out that heat that builds up day after day?

I am on the 2nd floor on a semi-busy street (not so much in the wee morning hours), but enough that should someone want to scale the balcony, they could, but could also risk being seen...

There's so many news stories with the economy being what it is that burglars and creepers are lurking, my ingrained fear of the "Nightstalker" from the 80's and now local news of some dude sneaking into women's apartments that are keeping me from really being able to cool off the house, but what are the odds of this happening?

Do you attempt to defy the odds? What are your secrets for sleeping peacefully in a warm house (if you don't have a/c)?

P.S. If you answer honestly and do leave everything open, I cannot be held responsible for creepers on this board who may visit you...

I live in Cali. We've had some f-ing weird weather in the last few weeks, I get like 3 **Flash Flood Warning** messages every day on my phone, Today it actually rained while also like 110f outside.

I have A/C but I rarely use it. I have a fan that blows on me all night, and in the morning I point it at my bird's house so she can keep cool while I'm at work.

It's been hot and sweaty here lately, and yes it has affected my sleep... I normally only get like 5-6 hours anyway, and I'm finding it hard to even get that.

I went a Summer a couple years back without any A/C, and it sucked. I would take a shower RIGHT before bed, NOT dry off, lay down with fan on and try to fall asleep. It rarely worked. I sometimes took more than one shower per night just to cool off.

I feel your pain.
