Just turned CNN on & found this

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/08/24/shooting-reported-outside-empire-state-building/

10 people shot, 2 of whom died. The shooter is one of the dead. Thoughts with everyone inNYC.

reports indicate that the other 8 or 9 victims were shot by stray NYPD bullets

WhoMoi?

Wow. :(

Seems miraculous that only the intended victim and perpetrator were killed in this situation, given how busy that spot is.

Hopefully the wounded people do indeed have only "non-life-threatening injuries."

and just think if everyone was carrying a gun - their bullets would have shattered the police bullets and the perpetrator would have been killed by sea monkeys!!!

MORE GUNS = Death by Sea Monkey

so, is this a weekly thing now - well, it has been - will we ever take a serious look at how many innocent people die from gun crimes a day. This is not a new phenomena, just an ignored plague on society

Someone on Twitter had apparently written something like "Congratulations America on not having a mass shooting in 2 weeks" just before this happened.

I'm just relieved that more people did not lose their lives or get shot.

you might be thinking of this: http://www.theonion.com/articles/nation-celebrates-full-week-without-deadly-mass-sh,29293/

the night before the shooting, the onion posted an article "nation celebrates full week without mass shooting". then this morning they posted "update: never mind"

if it were about anything other than a mass shooting it would be kinda hilarious but instead it's just frustrating that we literally can't go a week without a mass shooting

but we don't have a gun problem

That was most likely it. I was catching up on so much news this morning, I must've just crossed that with something else. I'm not sure what can be done to prevent acts like these, but it's pretty obvious this needs to be at the front of the national debate. Instead, we continue to focus on a stupid piece of paper that says our president was born in the US.

How many other people in the US were shot that week?

We don't have a gun problem, we have a bullet problem.

Too many bullets.
