Every time I hear "Doin' Time" by Sublime, the sample of "Slow and Low" makes me smile.

When I heard it the other day, I started trying to think about other songs that have sampled the Beasties, and I was having a brain cramp. All I could come up with was "Drop" by Pharcyde and Jay-Z's "Hello Brooklyn 2.0," and then Beastie songs where they sampled themselves.

So using the magic that is Google, I found this (forgive me if this has already been posted...I didn't see it when I did a search here):

http://www.whosampled.com/sampled/Beastie%20Boys/?sp=1

I liked seeing that it was a fairly long list. (y)

Anything missing from that list?
What are your favorite songs that have used Beastie samples?

That's pretty rad.

Sucks to see them list group members : Mike D, Adrock, and Mix Master Mike
Past Members : MCA, Hurricane, Kate.

I had no idea there were sooo many songs that sampled them!

Past Members : MCA,

I saw a that too :( that's a little messed up because if or until told otherwise, the B Boys are the 3 of them.

Just a few of the many, many, many tracks with Beastie Boys samples:

A whole bunch of NWA tracks. "Dope Man" and "Boyz in the Hood" (Easy E) come to mind. "As the Rhyme Goes on" by Erik B and Rakim, "Benz or a Beamer" by Outkast, "Hold It Now" by Lil Kim & Havoc, "Busted In the Hood" by Cypress Hill, "Cool Breeze On the Rocks" by De La Soul, "K.I.M." by EPMD, "4,3,2,1" by LL Cool J.

Songs with Beastie Boys references would be a whole other category

Yeah, I felt sad - and annoyed - when I saw that. :(

Nice, thanks!

What did LFO sample? Was it just the scratching? I listened to it once and couldn't bring myself to listen any closer or further. :)

Believe me, you don't need to know. Rather think of all the legendary groups that have sampled the Beastie Boys: EPMD, NWA, Erik B and Rakim etc.

Don't think of LFO, a group that is the polar opposite of legendary.

Of course I don't "need" to know. I'm curious to find out what the one redeeming aspect of that song might be, as I had no idea there was one until this thread. :) Plus it was the one song where I couldn't easily pick out the sample.

Rakim is one of my faves, I've seen NWA perform live...most of us are well aware of who the "legends" in hiphop are. It doesn't mean they are all we can discuss. Sometimes it's interesting/fun to discuss the WTF, one-hit-wonder "artists," in my opinion. Think of all the discussions this can generate..."They claim they were influenced by the Beastie Boys...what went wrong?!" :)

I didn't check to see which, if any of these, are on that site but pretty sure this is the LFO tune :)

Dilated Peoples sample a lot of Beastie Boys. Lots of good songs out there that sample the B-Boys. Kid Rock has been know to sample the Beasties as he is a big fan of them and classic Hip Hop.

I still don't hear the sample. I hear that they say "I stole your honey like I stole your bike," but the LFO guy says it. Is that what they're referring to as "sampling" in that song?

ETA: I don't see it on the "whosampled" site under The New Style.

In "Summer Girls,". Rich Cronin (RIP) used the line "I'll steal your honey like I stole your bike."

Sorry if someone wrote that already, I just read thru quickly...

Think I'll change up my style just to fit in?

Kid Rock responds with a "Hell Yes! That's what its all about!"

Too bad he never learned from the classic Hip Hop he listened to.

Sorry, when I think about groups like 98 degrees or LFO or N Sync or Backstreet Boys I am just reminded of the Disney channel-ification of popular music and how these groups stood for everything groups like the Beastie Boys were against.
LFO is forbidden from saying the Beastie Boys' name let alone any of their lyrics. But I guess LFO got what they had coming for that, a career lasting less than a week.

Dude. Ease up.

Of course if the guy died of cancer, its sad.
But that's not related to artistic merit/music and that's what we were discussing.

These boy bands have always been geared to teen girls. Of course
they are not favorites with most adults or hardcore music fans. They are mainly kids themselves. I don't think for one second the beasties would be offended in the least by any of them sampling their songs. I think they would be flattered. I don't think anyone wants to debate the artistic talent of LFO. It was just a little shocking (at least to me) that LFO sampled the boys. - or tried to :)

They probably ultimately wouldn't care one way or the other. But as I fan, I cared.

"3 Parole" by Fabri Fibra (http://youtu.be/sCUfubdJais)

"Sfanculo ai vip....feel the beat"

Fabri Fibra is an italian rapper super commercial now days, love his pasts records a lot,(Mister Simpatia) love his flow (very repetitive), saw him live last year, lots of energy on stage and he also rapped one of his songs on the Intergalactic instrumental base.(y)
